The human lands

The champions of the spear decided to travel south, following the coast until they reached the more civilized human kingdoms. These were Alsforn, Kragheim, and Varlona, which the champions' tribes raided often in longships along the coast. They did not go so far south as Laran, which would bring them too close to the savage Orc wastelands, or the steamy jungles of Zaruni, which was far too warm for the northerners' tastes.

They decided to travel incognito, keeping a low profile and avoiding any suspicions from the locals about their intents. They would become the looters and pillagers their mission demanded once they reached a suitable target.

Finally, the champions reached Varlona, a prosperous port city and the pinnacle of civilzation in the known world. It was a massive urban sprawl, with canals providing quick travel from one side of town to the other. It was unlike anything the champions had ever seen. They took in the sights and sounds with awe. Butchers and smiths plying their trade in shops along wide boulevards, the patrons of taverns and brothels spilling out onto the streets. Denni locked eyes on a courtesan who offered him a come-hither glance, but the champions pulled him away as they found a suitable inn their meager coin would afford.
