The hotel.

“Heading to the Coral Rose Resort,” Ava replied. The taxi driver hit the fare meter and off they went. The drive was just under an hour, but Ava wasn’t too disappointed as they drove by charming villages, beautiful beaches, and luxurious mansions the further they made their way through the island. Just before Ava was about to ask how much further, a large sign with the resort’s name appeared from the trees. A large opulent white hotel appeared in the clearing with quick flashes of the beach and clear skies behind it.

“Here we are miss, Coral Rose,” her taxi driver called back as he parked the car. Ava stepped out and could immediately smell the salt water nearby. The faraway cawing of birds were drowned out by the taxi’s engine while parked. Ava grabbed her luggage, gave the taxi driver a tip and made her way to the lobby. As the taxi sped away, Ava overheard an argument to her right. As she looked over, she saw two men standing on the either side of a woman. They appeared to be locals based on their appearance and accents. The woman appeared to have had enough of the two men and was trying to walk away. However when she took one step or tried to push by, one of the men blocked her.

The woman shouted back and appeared to be getting really annoyed, if not very upset. Ava stopped and stared, assessing the situation. Part of her wanted to intervene or at least call out to the men to let them know they were being watched. The other part of her thought it wasn’t her business and they did seem to know each other. As Ava internally debated, one of the men caught a glimpse of her and simply focused his attention on the pale red haired tourist.
