The holding cells

"She's no one. Her prints don't show up anywhere, no ID, she refuses to say anything. I really don't know what to do with her. Good job, by the way" Captain Sonia said. Lydia, Renee and I were standing behind her, looking at an almost fuming girl in the holding cell. Her black hair was raffled, her eyes filled with rage, her fists clenched. "If all goes well, we will have the District Attorney deal with her in the morning, he will know what to do with the lack of any identification. I'm sure he would love having prosecuting the infamous Black Bat on his resume when he runs for mayor" Sonia continued mockingly. "Again, good job Adam, at least a third of this department will really respect you now."

"What's with the other two thirds?" I asked as the Captain turned and dismissed the question with a goodbye. "They will fear you, and won't fuck with you. At least one third is consisted of corrupt sons of bitches, another third wished they could suck Batman's dick, and the last third are law up keeping cops. At least now we know you belong to the correct third" Lydia explained, as we turned to the door. "What do you mean by those thirds?" I asked.

"Just gossip, don't worry. The mayor issued an order to arrest all the vigilantes. But because some here adore Batman and his harem of Batbitches, we were having a problem stopping them. Sure, Batman can be useful, but not everything can be solved by punches" Lydia continued as she took another sip from her coffee. We were still in the holding cells, in the one in front of us, sat the raging Black Bat, the next cell was occupied by some drunks picked up off the street. And in the next cell sat three of the men from the clearing, the one with the shattered knee was still in the hospital.

"So those fanboys turn a blind eye whenever a Batfreak comes around, instead of actually doing their job. If you ask me, crime in this city took a turn to the worse since the Batman has arrived. Fucking supervillians, the fuck is that term.. so they turned up ever since he came. And he still didn't managed to do anything about the crime in this city. I mean.. The fuck are you doing, how can you call yourself the vigilante and fail to bring crime down." Lydia continued her ravings, as the light flickered.

I could feel some kind of a weird smell, as I saw smoke coming out of the AC, it was something subtle at first, but then Lydia stopped talking, saying her head spins. I caught her as she fell, but all the others around us weren't so lucky, most just plunged to the floor. The light flickered again, as I felt my body readjust itself to the lack of oxygen.

Then the lights turned off completely, and as my eyes adjusted to the dark, I could see a dark figure run past me towards the first holding cell, with the girl.

I rushed to the figure and caught it by the shoulder, but not fast enough as it managed to cut through the cell's lock. Then he punched me, as the cell opened free. From the cell, like from a Pandora box, evil poured out. The girl attacked me with all her fury, as the dark figure supported it from the other side.

I might have a chance against one of them, but against two of these Bats I was no match. Batman kicked me to the wall as he and the girl vanished from the holding cells. I saw the light flickering back on, but I myself plunged into darkness.
