What's next?
The healing touch
After stepping out the front door of the Baxtor building and making her way down a couple of blocks, Susan darted into an alleyway and checked to make sure she was alone. Looking down at the gorgeous dress she conjured thanks to the symbiote, the thing immediately changed and enveloped her entire body save for her face, covering her eyes in the black and white domino mask of her alter ego as her blue dress became her white full body spider suit with the long legged black spider that took up her chest and spread out to her arms and legs. A few seconds later, crowds of people gasped and smiled when they caught sight of ‘Mommy Long Legs’ leaping out of the alley and started swinging across the city.
“Reed… Can’t believe he didn’t even bother to look up from the microscope to see me!”
Outstretching her arm and firing a line of black webbing, Susan spun into the turn with the grace of an acrobat, the cityscape spinning before her eyes but not once did she feel any vertigo swinging from one rooftop to the next.
“I’d have been wearing the skimpiest lingerie and he’d never know it over that damn microscope lens.”
Reaching out with both hands, she shot web lines at different directions and used them to propel herself forward to land on all fours on the side of a skyscraper at the 75th floor. Crawling her way up, she ignored the office workers who dropped what they were doing to watch her crawl like a bug across the windows.
“Honestly, the only time he could get away from work to pay attention to me was when the power went out… Sigh, and that was how Franklin was born too.” Getting to her feet vertically from the surface of the skyscraper, she rested her hands at her sides and looked down from the great height to the traffic happening down below. Ignoring the camera flashes from the office floor at her feet.
“And Johnny saying I had a nice ass to my face and never knew it is like the cherry on top of this shit cake I’m dealing with right…”
Her attention quickly fell over to the distant squeal of tires and gunfire down at ground level. She could see a red charger just speeding through the streets, ignoring red lights at high speed and being chased by a pair of police cruisers. A smirk appeared on her lips as she cracked her knuckles.
“FINALLY! Something I can punch.”
Spreading out her arms, she allowed herself to freefall off the side of the skyscraper and drop down to the streets below.
*
Making a sharp turn to get away from the police, the bank robber and his two cohorts kept their eyes on the police chasing them as one pulled himself out the window with a gun in hand to shoot at the police cruiser closest to their get away car. They had just robbed the National 10 minutes ago and were in their get away in a rush after the silent alarm had been pulled by one of the tellers.
“COME ON! GET THESE PIGS OFF OUR BACKS JIMMY!”
Pumping the shot gun in his hand, the bank robber squinted with one of his eyes closed as he aimed for the driver. With a black toothed grin, he was about to pull the trigger when he felt something grab hold of the shotgun and pulled it clean out of his hands. Looking up and grabbing hold of the roof of the car to steady himself, he found the black and white suited Spider-Woman with his gun in one hand and a web line in the other. Smirking back at the man, she gave him the shock of his life when she crushed the barrel of the gun with the same ease as breaking a sipping straw.
“JIMMY? WHY AREN’T YOU SHOOTING?!”
Looking over his shoulder out of confusion, he was shocked when Jimmy was pulled out the car window with a scream, spotting him a few seconds later tangled up in black goop and hanging upside-down from a light post.
“AWW SHIT! IT’S SPIDER-MAN!” Turning a sharp corner, the red sports car clipped a van in the process, nearly knocking the vehicle over when a line of black webbing caught its tires and pulled it back to the ground without completely tipping over.
A lurch shifted the car when Susan landed on the hood of the charger on all fours, grinning at the startled driver and his passenger who was cradling the duffle bag full of money like it was a person. Knocking the window like it was a door, Susan spoke up over the police sirens.
“Sir, can you pull over? I have a few questions regarding your life choices.”
Turning sharply again, the driver screamed as he tried to shake Susan off the hood of his car, the other pulling free a pistol to shoot her… Which led to the woman punching straight through the windshield and snatching it out of his hand to crush like a ball of tinfoil.
“Nu uh, none of that.”
Jumping off the car and spinning in mid air, Susan shot out a pair of web lines that struck either side of the car, and using a streetlamp as a pulley, she landed on the ground and pulled back with all her might. The act hoisting the back wheels of the car off the ground and bringing it to a near full stop, AND the two robbers to fly out the shattered windshield and onto the road to tumble and roll onto their backs. Webbing the car down completely, Susan jumped and landed on the light fixture to sit with a leg crossed and wave back to the two men trying to get to their feet and find an exit. Seeing them try and head out to the left, she shot out a cobweb that blocked their exit between two parked cars. When they tried going the opposite way she blocked their exit again, then boxed them in with another black cobweb to seal any exit they had left. All but where Susan was sitting and the two police cars who finally arrived and aimed their firearms at the two remaining thugs.
“Are you sure you still don’t want that talk? I’m a good listener…” Susan joked.
PUT YOUR HANDS UP AND OVER YOUR HEADS!” Barked the one officer who made his way forward aiming at the two.
“Better do what he says guys, he sounds angry.”
****, the driver of the two pulled out a pistol and grabbed his accomplice to aim the firearm at his head.
“ANYONE MAKES A MOVE AND I BLOW HIS FUCKING HEAD OFF!!!”
“Johnny, what the hell?!” Wondered the other robber as he dropped the duffle back and raised his hands while Johnny pulled him close and positioned him between him and the surrounding police.
No longer making bad jokes, Susan sat up and made ready to move, making sure the gunman was staring at her… Until she went invisible. Panicked, he looked everywhere for the Spider themed heroine, even going so far as to aim his pistol out to shoot at anything that moved, until a pair of strong hands grabbed him by both his wrist and the pistol and aimed it down to the ground, causing the gunman to freak out and pull the trigger, grazing his friend in the leg before she crushed the gun and pulled it away from him to push the injured robber to the ground and web up the other.
Brushing her hands clean, the two police behind her immediately took over the situation and rolled the man over to cuff him as best they could with all the black webbing around his arms and legs. But when they got to the other on the ground they found him crying out in pain from the gunshot wound in his ankle.
“My leg! You sonofabitch! You SHOT me!”
Cuffing the man and keeping an eye on his injury, the police officer spoke into the microphone at his shoulder requesting a paramedic as the man bled out. Crouching down to one knee, Susan felt guilty, making a face of worry as she finally looked at the bullet wound and found it looked MUCH worse than she thought. Especially with the pool of blood getting bigger.
“Uh… I feel dizzy…”
“Just stay awake pal, I need you to stay awake until the paramedics can arrive to patch you up. Hey, you… Spider… Lady, come over here and put pressure on his leg.”
Pulling up the man’s pant leg up and wincing at the shredded bullet wound, Susan made ready to do just that when she got the shock of her life watching her fingers stretch to five times their length and snake their way down to slither and lather into the injury. Both Susan and the Cop just watching in disbelief as her fingers licked over the bullet hole and made it disappear. Healing the man of his injury.
“Gross… Uhm, I mean… Good job!”
“Yeah…” Murmured Susan, pulling her hands back to see her fingers return to normal, looking back down at the man’s leg it looked like he had never been shot, even the bullet was laying by itself next to the wound, having been plucked out too.
Surprised, Susan got back to her feet and brushed herself off. “Well… Uhm… Guess my work here is done.”
Firing a web line up into the air, Susan pulled herself up with a single tug of her arm and swung away, all while a crowd of pedestrians behind the cobwebs took pictures of her leaving.
“THANKS MOMMY LONG LEGS!” She heard one of the people in the crowd cry out, making Susan sigh and shake her head.
