Chapter 2
by Wildgrrl
What happens next?
The girls find the door unlocked.
The girls ran up to the porch steps of the old house, their clothing spotted with rain. The porch's overhang kept them dry for the moment, but the storm was picking up quickly, and the wind was beginning to blow the rain into the shadowed space. Jessica tried the door's handle, preparing to put her shoulder into the door to **** it open, but instead stumbled inward slightly, shocked to find the door unlocked. The twins nearly bowled her over as the rushed in behind her and out of the rain. Jessica then pushed the door shut again, forcing it against the bellowing storm outside. With the door closed, the trio was finally able to look around the interior of the house as thunder gently shook the walls.
The girls stood in a dark foyer. A musty smell sat heavily in the air, almost making it hard to breath. With what little light that filtered through the dirty windows, the girls could see the once deep red, but now faded wallpaper peeling away from the walls, and the thick layer of dust that sat undisturbed by anyone but themselves upon the floor.
A stairwell on the right side of the foyer was a stair well, ascending into the oppressive darkness above. A hallway sat next to that, leading deeper into the house where a faint gray light could be seen emanating from a window somewhere in the room at the end. Archways led out of the foyer to the right and left. Through the arch on the right was what appeared to be a living room filled with cobwebbed furniture. The arch to the left opened into a large dining room, it's long rectangular table covered in a thick layer of dust, and surrounded by wooden chairs that seemed to waiting for long delayed guests.
What do the girls do now?
