The friendgroup makes plans
Rob was making plans for a sold-out concert, gloating about how he and Sara – who was now officially his girlfriend – managed to score tickets, waving them in front of me triumphantly. He seized the hottest tickets in town, not only for him and Sara but for Laryssa and anyone she wanted to bring as well. I was surprised to learn that it was my wife who asked Rob if she could get 2 more if he managed to get any, and gave him $200 per ticket. Rob suddenly stopped giving me details when Sara whispered something in his ear, breaking eye contact with me, looking like he let something slip that I wasn’t supposed to hear. I reached out my hand to take the tickets from Rob and was taken back when he pulled his arm away.
“Um, the other ticket’s not for you, dude,” Rob said as if he felt sorry for me. He then looked over my shoulder and smiled. I turned around and swallowed hard – Andrew was right behind me.
“Eh…is that my ticket-ah?” Andrew asked Rob, non-rhetorically. I felt ostracized when he handed Andrew the tickets, then man-shaked him right in front of me. My smoking-hot wife was going to a concert with my nerdy, tag-along friend, my alpha male best friend, and his hot new girlfriend…without me. Laryssa hadn’t discussed any of this with me. It was almost like she didn’t want me to know she was going to the concert with Andrew. What made it even more insulting was that Andrew didn’t even care for concerts or music in general.
There were plenty of pictures taken on the night of the concert, which I studied obsessively on Facebook. Almost every picture of Laryssa showed Andrew by her side. Some of them had his big hands on her waist, while in others, her lips were touching his ear and his cheeks. A few of those photos captured Andrew and Laryssa holding hands.
