All of a sudden, Tom hears three things, in order:

1: A soft click, somewhere at his feet.

2: The whoosh of air as the floor seemed to just vanish beneath them, leaving them to fall straight down into a dark expanse, and

3: Melissa's scream, mixed in with his own, as the two fell, still clutched to one another.

As abruptly as it had happened, their fall came to a crashing halt; quite literally, as the two of them landed with a thud on a large cushion underneath the hatch. After a few moments of clinging together, shaking out of fear, Thomas and Melissa realized they were, in fact, still alive. Both sighed in relief, rolling apart on the cushion to lay on their back.

Seeing the trap door above them, they both immediately bolted upright, blushing harder than they had been before.

What the two of them had failed to hear, in the midst of the screaming and the rush of air, was the shredding of fabric as they passed through the floor. Now, they were keenly aware of what had happened as, dangling from the door's hatch, was...
