The first goal

Paul: “Since her punishment, Talia has been playing a little more passively, Anthony. Wouldn’t you agree?”

Anthony: “You’re absolutely right, Paul. She’s letting the Tramps run around her like crazy.”

As if to prove the point, at that very moment, Alex rushed past Talia with the ball as Talia made a poor attempt to stop her.

Paul: “It looks like Alex is all alone against the goalie now! She fakes left, then she shoots right..... GOOOOOOOOAAAAALLLL!!”

The Tramps mobbed Alex as she celebrated her goal. To the side, Talia had her head down in shame. She knew she would get punished harshly in practice for letting Alex pass her.

Alison ran up to pat Talia gently on the butt. Her meaning was clear: the game was far from over.

Anthony: “And the Tramps have taken the first lead of the game! Let’s see if they can hold onto it.”

Paul: “I think they’re going to need at least one more goal to be comfortable. Right now, any shot could make this a tied game.”

Anthony: “Well, the Babes are about to kick off. Let’s see if they have what it takes to recover.”
