What does the Man in Green bid?
The dress
The Man in Green threw in the dress, repudiating Daniel’s choice. “The ring is worth far more.” His deep voice echoed within Roslyn’s chest. Was he throwing her a bone? It felt like generosity and yet none of his previous actions indicated that generosity was a driving force for him. Unless these opportunities to recover their lost wealth at the cost of her dignity had been some perverse form of magnanimity. Roslyn did not feel like the recipient of charity as she sat hunched into the table, her hands pressing into her bare crotch, and her tits against the table’s edge. Daniel shot a churlish glance at the Man in Green. He bristled with anger at being toyed with. The Man’s question was not an offer, but merely an inquiry to reveal how much Daniel valued Roslyn’s modesty. The older woman put in a small number of chips, likely equating much closer to the value of the dress and her panties (without any bonus accounting for Roslyn’s dignity).
Roslyn watched cautiously as Daniel held up his cards. Her heart sputtered. He had nothing. She wouldn’t be getting her panties back. She didn’t know what would happen next. Daniel would lose, and then what? She had nothing but boots on. Without Daniel at the table she had no occupancy rights to the table. The air around felt thin, as her chances of escaping her predicament evaporated before her eyes. The prospect of earning back their lost fortune was no longer a concern of hers. Merely leaving the venue with what she arrived in felt beyond on her wildest dream. She and Daniel had only allowed themselves fifty dollars to gamble with to prevent any high stakes losses and yet here she was robbed of all her clothes, seated around the most lavishly dressed segments of society for a game worth fifty dollars.
One more card was placed on the table by the dealer and another round of bidding. Roslyn watched in horror as Daniel folded. He didn’t even play the odds for her clothes. He had happily paid away her panties and yet wouldn’t even let a slim chance save her. the Man in Green and The older woman continued to raise by pittances, both uninterested in the stakes after Daniel had folded. They revealed their cards and the older woman took away the win with a flush of spades. She reached in to the center of the table and pulled in her winnings. For a moment a hopefulness pooled in Roslyn’s mind as concepts of feminine solidarity attached themselves to her imagined morality of this unknown woman. Like water on rock, her hopes crashed and receded away when the older woman spoke.
“And with that I think I will cash out.” She made a sly grin at Roslyn. Desperately Roslyn almost cried out. “May I have my dress back?”
