Chapter 5
by JakobSams
Which door does Jennifer open?
The door labeled “Challenge of Water”
Jennifer looked at the plaque and raised an eyebrow. Challenge of Water? Weird. But, she was up to a challenge. She lifted the axe up and smashed the door apart. However, the axe suddenly broke, leaving Jennifer empty handed yet again. She hugged before entering the room.
As soon as she stepped in, a stone door slid down from the ceiling and blocked her in. She huffed at the inconvenience before turning and examining the room. It was taken up by a large pool of water, fed by a man-made river going under a wall. Jennifer wondered what to do, before she found a note on the ground.
The note read:
Dear reader,
If you are reading this, then you have made your choice. The challenge is simple: you must swim all the way to the end of the river to the next room. But be warned. The water is cursed. Spend as little time as possible submerged in it.
Jennifer raised an eyebrow before making sure any electronics on her person were placed into a waterproof bag. Then, she quickly entered the pool.
The water was strangely warm and comfortable, and Jennifer nearly dunked her head in. But, the warning of the note kept her from doing such a thing. She soon got to the wall where the river went under. Jennifer took a deep breath in, then submerged herself and quickly began swimming.
What effect does the water have on Jennifer?
