Which door does she go through?
The door decorated with a chess piece, titled “Trial of the Mind”
Jennifer looked at the door’s carving with fond memory: a chess piece. She remembers doing chess club back in high school. Well, no better place to use her knowledge. She pushed the door open and walked in.
Inside, she found, indeed, a lone chessboard affixed to a pedestal with stone chess pieces and a single stone bench. She sat down and found a note on the board. It read:
Care for a game? If you beat me, you’ll exit this room unchanged. If I beat you, you’ll have to choose your alteration.
Jennifer scoffed and cracked her fingers. There was no opponent. So, she could win easy. She deftly moved one of the white pawns forward. However, she was shocked to find a black pawn move forward as well. Okay. Enchanted chessboard. That’s a new one. Jennifer cleared her throat and readied herself for the game.
Does she win, or lose?
