Chapter 11 by crunchyspag crunchyspag

What's next?

The difficulty of attractive servants (Emily and Angelika)

The next morning you wake up, not yet cured of yesterday's fatiguing events. It was a long day to be sure, not to mention the massive change in your life. You hear a knocking at your door, causing you to grumpily stir from bed. "What is it?" you demand spitefully before you even fully open the door. You look down at the small person behind the door, and see it is one of the castle servants. She's a small young girl, hair tucked away in a conservative wool bonnet. You didn't bother to put your clothes back on, and stand before her wearing only your silken trousers. Her face visibly reddens as she tries to figure out where she should look, your face, your bare chest, away, or down at the floor. She ends up crossing that obstacle by mashing them all together in an awkward mess. "S-sire, breakfast is ready. W-whenever you are, of course" she says sheepishly. Before you can dismiss her she picks up the hem of her dress and dashes off around a corner. As she rounds it you can make out the faint sound of giggles echoing in the hall. You aren't sure what's so funny, and it only worsens your mood. You sloppily dress and get ready to eat, as you feel quite starved.

You enter the breakfast hall, drawing more fanfare than you desired. The monks may have been overly anal about schedules, but at least they let one eat without much hassle. You sit by your mother at the head of the table. She greets you with formal coldness as you arrive. "Welcome, my son. You were very tired after a long day, I assume?" she asks, looking at you from the corners of her eyes. Mother has tended to be indirect, though you also know her to be rather forceful if the situation demands it. "Yes, a long day" you mumble, bringing food to your hungry maw. "Oh, do try the pastries dear. They're quite tempting" she says in a hush. It doesn't take a genius to get her hints. "Is there something you wanted to discuss, Mother?" She does her best to look nonchalant. "Oh, I wouldn't trouble the gathering with my nagging. I just think you have shown a tendency toward unhealthy habits thus far. I mean sleeping...in, this late? Not proper behavior at all." Mother's passive-aggressive tone does not endear her argument to you, even if it has some worth. "We can talk more in private then" you say in a hush similar to hers. "Yes, we do need to talk more" she says at a more normal volume. "It has been so long since we've had ample time together."

You finish your breakfast in a thoroughly bad humor, not looking forward to mother's nagging. But, it's better than dealing with her snide comments at every meal, so there's little other good choice.

How does the talk go?
