Chapter 15 by Godzilla87 Godzilla87

What do you see?

The battle seems one-sided

The battle was going in favor of the monsters. The goblins still had Shana surrounded making it impossible for her to cast any fire spells. She was still swinging her staff wildly, but you could tell she was tiring and couldn't keep them all back. The remaining goblins were coordinating their attacks. While they were doing minimal damage, they were slowly draining Shana of her health.

Lydia was locked in combat with the young ogre. Its huge size kept Lydia at a distance while its attacks kept her moving and unable to cast any spells. The beast was quite agile for its size.

The ogre swung and smashed the club into the ground. You feel the tree you are perched in shake from the blow. Lydia dashed forward past the club to strike at the beast's stomach. The ogre jumped backwards narrowly dodging the knight's blade. It shouldn't be that fast, you think to yourself. It has some item or magic or something helping it. Unless its loincloth had an agility boost, it wasn't wearing any other item. Ogres weren't known for their magic skills. It had to be something else, but what?

A scream stops your train of thought. It's Shana. You had been so focused on the ogre you forgot about your bride-to-be. She was kneeling on the ground using her staff for support. A goblin's club must have hit home behind her knees buckling them. She was panting and tried to stand bracing against her staff, but couldn't. Shana knelt on the forest floor with a look of hopelessness. The goblins slowly encircled her making sure their prey really was down before they finished her off. You saw two goblins look at eachother and smile.

Lydia was too focused on the ogre to notice her friend was about to die.

It's now or never, you think to yourself. Make your move? Help the heroines? Or watch them die?

What do you do?
