Where is the noise coming from?
The bathroom
The sound of metal clinking against metal and plastic sliding against porcelain came from a room to Violet's left, closer to the stairs down. Carefully, quietly, she sidled towards the door, glancing to the book she held at her bare chest. There was sentence towards the end that was written bolder than the others-- she'd made a note about it earlier, something meaning 'servant off' or 'servant out'? She'd have to try it against the first piece of clothing she could get her hands on. Stopping right at the doorway, bare ass pressed against the chill wall, Violet looked into the dark bathroom, and saw the shower curtain drawn shut. Taking a deep breath, she stepped into the room, ready to draw it back.
'Alright,' she thought, 'here goes nothing....' Violet cleared her throat, ready to utter the incantation but as she placed one hand on the curtain--
"Oh!"
From the towel rack, a pair of long black tendrils flew out and wrapped themselves around Violet's thigh- a long-sleeve shirt hidden under one of the towels! It's grip was tighter than lifeless cloth would imply, and as the sleeves snaked their way forward, Violet shivered as one rubbed right between her legs. Losing her balance, Violet stumbled back, dragging the curtain open, and fell into a sitting position on the closed toilet, the cold cover against her bare skin shocking some alertness back into her. As the shirt pulled itself forward at her, Violet raised her free hand placed it firmly against the tee's front.
"Espiritus Ablit Corpus!"
Violet felt pins and needles in her fingertips, and as they sunk into the cloth, it fell to pieces in her grasp, thread and fabric tearing silently and shrinking down into nothing as her hand passed through it. From her handprint, a faint light spread throughout the garment, carrying the destructive magic across the rest of it until there was nothing left of the shirt besides a few bits of black scrap sitting on the bathroom tile.
'Yes! Wait, shit, no!' Violet was happy to get the thing off of her, true, but as she shakily climbed to her feet, she realized that she'd liked that shirt. And even if she hadn't, destroying her entire wardrobe was a solution that only brought more problems with it! She opened the book once more, determined to see if there was something she'd pronounced wrong, or if there was another way to deal with this, or anything--
The hiss of water rising through the pipes hit Violet like headlights on a crossing deer. She whipped her head to the side, towards the now open shower, and caught a glimpse of a thong using its waistband to turn the cold water dial, and a scarf hanging onto to the shower rod with it's other end holding the shower head, pointed straight at her.
It was all Violet could do not to scream as the cold water blasted her in the face and chest, the book dropped as she raised her arms to shield herself. Sputtering, she jumped up and smacked the scarf in the middle, and it fell into the shower; as the thong tried to jumped past her towards the door, she caught it and slammed it against it's fellow troublemaker, and with another utterance of the spell, they were both gone, bits and pieces washing down the drain as the loose showerhead poured water into the tub.
Violet's teeth started to chatter- the water had been freezing, and the house's AC was causing her to break out in goosebumps, not to mention causing her nipples to harden. Turning the water off, and praying that no one else in the house had heard the scuffle, Violet cautiously grabbed one of the towels and spoke the magic words- apparently it was fine, as it stayed in-tact, and Violet quickly dried herself off and wrapped the towel around herself. It was a bit smaller than she'd have liked, but Violet was willing to take what she could get.
Looking back down at the book, Violet carefully picked it back up, careful not to let it close, and hoping that the water hadn't hit it too hard....
What's the damage?
