You started to worry about getting **** poisoning. The men people in the bar were practically singing your praises and keeping the drinks flowing, elated that you'd taken down the corrupt mayor.

Part of you appreciated it, but the other part resented them. Any of them— all of them could have stood up and done something, yet they cowed down to him.

To be fair, you'd done that as well at the party. That didn't make this feel any better or Caleb's hollow words ring any fuller as he thanked you profusely.

"Wanna get out of here?" A feminine voice called out from behind you as there was a tap on your shoulder.

"Thanks, but I'm not really in the mood for—" You turned and saw Siri. "Yes, please."

"I'm impressed. You managed to find the dealer... I'm sorry for who it turned out to be," Siri said, looking forward as she drove. You were going to have to stay with her tonight since your place was, well, a non-option right now. Plus, she didn't want to leave you alone.

"I wanted to punch every man in that bar. They could have done something. All of them together. They could have fought back like I tried to. It wasn't until I saw that no one was going to help that I became hopeless." You closed your eyes and leaned back in the chair; your head was pounding. "Thank you."
