Chapter 9 by FredWeasleyLives1 FredWeasleyLives1

What does Portia have to do?

The apology

I have just ordered a pizza to help cement my friendship with my best friend Kaitlyn. On the positive side, my relationship with my best buddy is starting to mend. Unfortunately, Kaitlyn is not the only one of my friends that I have wronged today. I went crazy and kicked Abbie out of my room. I hope that I still have a few friends left when the day is over. At least I seem to have calmed down at the moment. The most important thing that I need to do is to fix things with the other friend that I have wronged. I just hope that she will forgive me.

"Do you want me to help carry the pizza back here?" Kaitlyn wondered.

"I better do it myself," I objected. "There is something else that I need to do."

"I assume that you are going to apologize to Abbie," Kaitlyn guessed.

"Oh, you know?" I squeaked.

"My room is right next to yours," Kaitlyn reminded me. "I could hear you yelling at the poor thing."

"This has not been a red letter day for me," I grumbled. "I have made two of my friends cry and I haven't even ate lunch yet."

"We all have our bad days," Kaitlyn consoled. "It will be okay once you say that you are sorry."

I shrug my shoulders and head out the door to put my neck in the noose again. I took a satchel with me so I that I could carry the bottle of pop that we would need for our meal. I head down to the dining room as quick as I possibly can. I just hope that my friends are still speaking to me after the way that I have acted today. I am about to enter when I hear my friends talking so I stop to eavesdrop for a few seconds.

"It looked like Portia was a crazy person!" Abbie whined.

"I am sure that she didn't mean what she said," Tyler comforted her.

"I know she didn't mean it, but I have never seen her so upset."

"It is hard to control yourself when you are going through a traumatic situation," Chris spoke up.

I knew that I could not put off this unpleasant task so I opened the door with a frown on my face. If I did not already know that my friends were talking about me, I would know it now since all of my friends stopped talking when they saw me. I slowly walked around the table while watching Tyler rub his girlfriend's shoulders and stopped in front of my messy haired friend so I could prepare for the worst. I could tell that Abbie had been crying and it is all because of me.

"You really hurt me!" Abbie shot out to stick a knife in my heart. "I was only trying to help!"

"I know you were trying to help me," I pleaded. "There was no excuse for me taking my problems out on you. I know that I don't deserve it, but I would really appreciate it if you forgave me. I'm sorry!"

"Of course I forgive you!" Abbie cried out while jumping up to hug me. "I just need to know that you are okay."

"I didn't mean to do it!" I whined.

"Sh, it's okay," Abbie quieted me while patting my back. "I know that it has been a long day for you, kid."

"It's been a long day for all of us," I clarified.

"Portia, we are all friends here. More than that, we are family. When one of us hurts, we all hurt." Zack reminded me.

"I appreciate that," I mentioned. "Thank you."

"Speaking of friends, Becca called me because you wouldn't pick up your phone," Chris revealed to me. "She wants you to call her because she is worried about you."

"Why don't you get Kaitlyn in here so we can eat?" Tyler pressed.

"I ordered a pizza so Kaitlyn and I could talk things over in private," I refused.

"Good for you!" Abbie cheered as I started putting everything I needed for my peace talk with my best friend into my bag.

Once I had my bag properly loaded, I went outside to wait for the pizza. As I was leaving, I heard Tyler say one final thing.

"Did you see her face when you told her that Becca was asking about her? Do you think that it means something?"

What do I discuss with Kaitlyn?
