What's the Big Deal?

The Wedding

"It's my cousin, his wedding is next weekend," Ken starts to explain.

"Aw congrats to them!"

"Oh ya, sure. That's not the issue John," Ken seems confused by your interjection.

"Go on-"

"We'll I know I've told you before but I wasn't exactly popular in my home town," Ken explains.

"Ya I remember, still sorry to hear that man," seems like high school did a real number on this guy.

"Ya we'll there's more to the story, since I left no one really knows what I do out here in New York. I kinda have been telling them I've been doing a lot better than I have been," Ken is sheepish about the lie.

"I mean a little exaggeration seems harmless, hard to back up with that dinky apartment but then New York rent is expensive," John tries to break the tension but Ken gives him a half hearted snort.

"true true, that's not exactly the most embarrassing part. The worst part is I told them I'd met someone and that things were pretty serious," Ken was holding his breath waiting for ridicule.

"Ah I see, well damn Ken I presume they are expecting you to bring this lady," John still isn't sure where this is going.

"Yep you got it, so I was thinking, remember how you owe me for a couple poker nights," Ken had out played John a couple times to the tune of about $2,000.

"Ya? don't really see how that's relevant," You were going to pay Ken back you just were waiting to get a big bonus from work, he knew you were good for it.

"Well I'd wipe the slate, all debts forgiven if you help me get out of this bind," Ken was working towards the conclusion.

"Not a bad trade, what's the catch?" You were dubious but could definitely use the money.
