Chapter 13 by Cainiam Cainiam

What Will Texas Use the Grapple On?

The Wall

Texas looked to the guards. She knew they could handle this, the prisoners too. She'd done her job for Ramshackle, for Gold Springs and everywhere else these criminals might have caused trouble in future. Now it was time that she made her escape before the Warden changed the terms of the negotiation, or Mayor Vivian did anything else to her fair town. She let the grappling hook fly, it catching the top of the wall. The sheets trailed all the way to the ground, the perfect amount. Grabbing them with her hand she gave a testing tug and then nodded. They wouldn't get more secure. She felt the slick coating of sweat with her fingers as she gripped the sheets and began her climb, abseiling up the wall. With every step her boots took, her heart felt heavy. It was hard not to drop everything and go to the aid of those in need as she heard the yells and the splats, but it was made easier by the fact she knew that they weren't good people, and everything would work out for them in the end. She knew that if she remained however there were no guarantees of the same for her.

Step by step she scaled the wall, putting one foot in front of the other. She cast a sidewards glance and was greeted by the sight of the rhino and bear guards who had brought her in both shielding their faces before *KER-SPLAT* An enormous elephant ass crashed into them, squashing them up against the wall of the prison, burying them in backside. The thick, sweaty ass enveloped them and Texas turned away. She was at the top, reaching the wall. She hopped up onto it and paused. Looking down she saw two enterprising squirrels and a large elephant starting the climb up behind her. "Sorry pardners, ain't no criminals escapin' on my watch," Texas called down as she quickly tugged at the knots, pulling them clear in a matter of seconds, and the sheets released. The line of cloth tumbled to the ground, and the two squealing squirrels did too, the pair of them crashing to the dirt of the yard. Then the fat elephant landed right on top with a *SSSPPLLAATTT* completely crushing them both under her fat, wobbling rump.

Texas grabbed the grapple and pulled it clear, before she hopped off the other side of the wall, cramming the grapple back against it to slow her descent to the ground. She still had to roll on impact, taking the blow and leaving the discarded grapple outside of the prison. She could still hear the yelling inside. No doubt it wouldn't be long before the guards realised something, but BB wouldn't have just jumped out to be caught again, she must have had a plan. Texas looked around, and then noted the three horses bound to a tree, each with saddlebags loaded with equipment. She allowed herself a smirk as she rushed over, selecting the sleekest of the horses and leaping up onto it. "Come on, girl, take me back to Gold Springs!" Texas willed, giving a pull of the reins and then setting off, the horse neighing before it started to gallop.

Hooves thudded against the dirt, kicking off dust as she left the prison behind, left the chaos where it was and started the ride back home. She'd stop whatever plan Vivian had been setting in motion in her absence and keep Gold Springs safe, as she always had done. The sun set off in the horizon, casting its orange glow across the arid land as Texas rode hard. She'd be long gone by the time they realised she had gone, using the prisoner's plan for her own escape and ensuring that none of them made it out of the county jail.

(GOOD END... FOR NOW.)
