Chapter 8 by Openmind Openmind

The Unthinkable.

The Doctor found himself in a carriage with Vastra and Jenny, both geared for war. Strax sat atop the carriage, driving the horses. "You smell... Interesting." Vastra commented, looking at the Doctor, who simply gave her a look as a reply. "Did you and Miss. Clara get up to anything?" She asked, pressing. "Leave 'em alone, Miss." Jenny said, smirking. "Can't you see he's smitten?" Both laughed and the Doctor just rolled his eyes. "Ha. Ha. I don't see what there is to laugh about, might I remind you both that we're on our we to stop homicidal snow from eating everyone on this planet?" There was a moments pause before, the doctor nodded, and the couple gave each-other knowing looks.

"We are here." Strax said, leaping from the carriage, rifle in hand. The Doctor exited the carriage first, followed by Madam Vastra, then by Jenny. "Let us go." Said Vastra, calmly, and the party marched towards the large mansion that belonged to Doctor Simeon....

They burst through the door of his home and towards the laboratory that the Doctor had visited earlier, in the guise of Sherlock Holmes. Strax knocked down that door and the four entered... The empty room. The Doctor's eyes flashed around the place, he turned to look at the others, all with similar expressions to his... "Sir..." Strax pointed at the ground, where one pale piece of paper rested, neatly folded on the floor, a red ribbon wrapped around it to keep it bound.

The Doctor moved towards the letter and picked it up, unwrapped the ribbon, took one look at the writing on it, dropped it and darted, hurriedly from the room. The gang looked at one another, then down to the parchment that he had thrown to the floor. Jenny strode over and picked it up, reading it aloud.

The words were written in a delicate, well educated hand, and as she spoke the words Jenny wasn't sure she under stood them... But Vastra did... Vastra knew precisely what the letter meant.

'_Doctor.

Your Mothers shall be lost, forevermore.

Unless you come to Trenzalore._'

"QUICKLY!" Vastra shouted, and they all ran from the room, following the Doctor. They just managed to clamber into the carriage as the Doctor made the horses full pelt down the empty streets of London in the morning.

The group ended up outside the Paternoster and clambered off and out of the carriage. They all came to a stop when they saw Clara outside the door, her eyes fixed on The Doctor.

"I woke up..." She started. "On a roof..." She took a step towards the Doctor. "Freezing my arse off!" She slapped his chest, angrily. "Clara!" The Doctor, started, his voice on the verge of panic, but he was cut off by a kiss from the barmaid/governess.

"Please..." Clara said, while breaking the kiss. "... Don't leave me again." The Doctor sighed and nodded. "Fine. C'mon!" He grabbed her hand and yanked her inside the house, the gang ran to the tearoom and burst into the TARDIS. The group ran into the TARDIS but Clara stopped in the door frame. The Doctor ran to the console and started to pull levers, flip switches and push buttons. "It's..." Clara started, standing behind Jenny. "...It's... Smaller... On the outside?" She finished. Strax laughed. "Doctor!" He said, pointing to Clara with his thumb. "You missed the part where the boy states the obvious." But The Doctor wasn't listening, and suddenly, neither were any of them.

The TARDIS roared, it let forth a sound like an engine bursting into a thousand piece but still wanted to run. Sparks flew from every console, from every panel. "WHAT'S HAPPENING!?" Clara shouted. "We're breaking every law of time there is!" The Doctor explained, shouting over the noise as he continued to dart around the console, trying to fix things as quickly as they broke. "And she's not happy about it!" He shouted, slamming down the Time Throttle. "WHAT DOES THAT MEAN!?" Clara shrieked, falling over backwards, but she was caught by Vastra before she hit the floor. "It mean's I'm crossing my own Timeline in the worst way possible... And... The... TARDIS... Doesn't.... LIKE IT!" He shouted the last two words in triumph as the TARDIS suddenly thudded to a stop, and everything was silent...

"Where are we?" Jenny asked.

There was another silence as nearly all the light from the TARDIS was turned off, it seemed almost as if the power had been sucked from her. The only light that remained was the center column's dull greenish-blue. "The one spot a Time Traveler should, never, ever go." He answered moving to the door. "Which is?" Clara urged.

"His grave..."
