The Truth of the Amulet

"Sorry, Lilly, but Becky's right. I don't know anything about this amulet." you say.

"Yeah, I understand." Lilly sighs.

"Look, I'll talk to you later once we've figured what this thing is about. You'll be the first person I tell, alright?"

"Hmm..." Lilly trails off, before looking up smiling, "alright!" and after giving you a hug, she heads on home.

"Well, Becky, shall we?" you ask.

Rebecca turns to you, a look of mild annoyance on her face, "You know I hate it when people call me that." she says.

"Except me." you state.

"I tolerate it." she replies. "If you weren't my best friend, I'd probably sock you in the mouth."

As the two of you begin to walk off, a voice from behind stops you.

"HEEEEY! WAIT UP!" comes the call. The two of you turn around to see two of your friends running towards you. "We're coming with you." states Lindsay, the cheerleader.

"Yeah, we think this whole amulet thing is kind of weird." adds Zoe, the skater girl.

"And interesting." Lindsay chimes in.

"Yeah. So, we wanted to come with you and see what this was all about." Explained Zoe.

You turn to Rebecca, her face scrunching up like it always does when she's unsure of something. "I don't know..." she says, "Something could go wrong."

"Nah, everything'll be fine." you assure her, "Alright, you two want to come, you're more than happy to." you tell them.

With that, the two of you head over to Rebecca's house, and down to her room (which had been converted into one from the basement, since nobody used it). Lots of strange, occult symbols and books litter the very dark and black room. It's one of these books that Rebecca seems to be reading rather intently.

"Find anything interesting?" you ask, as Zoe and Lindsay join you.

"Actually, yeah." Rebecca said, pointing to a page with a rather grotesque demon. "See, look at this. It says that the amulet is an artifact containing the power of the demon lord Berith."

"So wait... you mean I have the power of a demon!?" you say, shocked.

"Not all of it, no." Rebecca says, "It says here that after a great battle, most of Berith's power was taken from him, split into six amulets scattered across the world. It says that anyone who can gather all six shall have demon's power for his own, but should Berith re-collect his power, then he will rain upon the world destruction and chaos."

"Whoa, that's pretty heavy stuff." you say.

"Indeed it is, human." comes a rather disturbing voice. You turn to see Lindsay, her eyes glowing completely red, stand up. "And soon shall I have my power, and with it I shall destroy this pathetic world and rule over all those who have opposed me." her voice sounds demonic, like her own but... distorted.

"L-Lindsay, what's going on?" Zoe asks.

"That's not Lindsay!" Rebecca exclaims, "It's Berith! He's... he's possessed her!"

"Quite perceptive, female." Lindsay/Berith grins, "I may have to do something about you, after I get my amulet back from THIS twerp." the demon-possessed cheerleader says, pointing at you.

"I'm... I'm not scared of you." you say nervously.

"Hmm, it appears that you're in luck. At my current power, I'm not quite able to just extract my amulet from your rotten flesh. But I shall soon have the power to do just that, but be wary: I WILL get you soon. Anyone, anywhere. I could be your mailman, or your teacher, or even your sister." and with that, a blast of energy knocks you all to the ground as Berith exits Lindsay's body.

You're the first to recover, probably thanks to the amulet, but you need to hide. Maybe if you possessed somebody, it would hinder his ability to find you. But who?
