The Thousand Isles

The Thousand Isles are a massive network of islands in the Great Ocean. They vary in size from tiny sandbars to landmasses the size of small nations. No full charts of them exist, and a persistent rumour has it that their layout shifts and changes, possibly due to the currents of magic that the wizards say flow amongst them. It takes a skilled sailor to navigate the Isles.

The Thousand Isles form a link between three continents – the Forest Continent to the northwest, the Desert Continent to the southwest, and the Plains Continent to the east. Thus, hundreds of trading ships are constantly travelling through the isles, carrying various goods from one continent to markets on another where they will be worth ten times what they were purchased for. Of course, with everything from gold to spices to rare woods to slaves being shipped back and forth, many see the opportunity for piracy. Several major nations send naval patrols to try and hunt them down, but it’s a futile task.

Most of the islands themselves are unexplored, and sailors are constantly finding seemingly innocuous isles contain strange beasts, mystic secrets and bizarre inhabitants. Sailing in the Thousand Isles is no task for the fainthearted.
