Who is emerging into the night?

The Teen Titans (Fanfiction Route)

All the Teen Titans are eighteen in this story!

"Well, this is the place," Robin stated, looking over the unfamiliar city from the rooftop. After years patrolling the same skyline, seeing a new one made the young superhero feel uneasy.

"Crime rate is nearly double that of Jump City," Cyborg reported, looking at some data on his arm. "And they got a lot more factions then we do.

"Great," Raven groaned.

"I wonder why my sister came here," Starfire thought out loud, standing behind the boy wonder nervously. She had been a wreck ever since they had gotten the distress call, getting more and more worried by the day.

"That's what we are here to find out," Robin replied, looking back and giving his girlfriend a comforting smile. Two days ago they had gotten a message from Starfire's sister Blackfire. It was short and cryptic, saying she was in unfathomable danger in Monarch City and to come right away. And it mentioned Slade. Since the incident with Trigon, the team had been unable to locate their arch-enemy. However, here he seemingly was, in a city across the country, for reasons Robin still did not understand. Though to be fair he'd never truly understood Slade's motives.

"So, what's our first move?" Beast Boy asked, restless after the long ride in the T-car. "Steet level detective work? Taking the fight to the criminals? Maybe you need an... eye in the sky?" Grinning, he transformed into a Pterodactyl, flexing his large wings.

"Or maybe we could just trace Blackfire's signal," Raven shot back, giving her friend an annoyed look from under her cloak.

"Oh yeah," Beast Boy said sheepishly, transforming back. "That."

"That is easier said than done, though," Cyborg admitted, once again checking his scanners. "The signal she used was really weak, not to mention encoded. I will only be able to get us within 100 yards."

"That'll have to be good enough," Robin replied, standing up. He was still not confident this was not just another trap. However, Starfire seemed confident her sister was telling the truth, despite their complicated past. After that business in Tokyo, Robin had grown quite close to his fellow superhero. If she believed her sister then Robin supposed he did too. "Teen Titans, GO!"

Where does the Trace lead them?
