The Sword of 10,000 Truths

You cannot believe your eyes, lying under the body is one of the single rarest Ultra Rare items in the game: The Sword of 10,000 Truths! How an idiot novice who could be killed by a blow from a sharp rock could possibly have acquired it you have no idea but you seize it and hold it in both hands, looking at your prize triumphantly.

The Sword sings with untapped power, it's blade glowing a brilliant blue and the five gems embedded in it's length shining, then one by one the gems wink out and the blade dims to a faint flicker.

"Huh, what gives?!?" You whine as the sword becomes almost too heavy to hold.

"WoW!" One of the other waitresses says. "You are so lucky! Getting the sword is the hard part, once you have it the quest's to awaken it are easy!"

"Awaken it?" You ask, signaling the others to follow as you sneak through the streets of the town.

"Yea, the sword has a quest string you have to complete in order to awaken it's full power, since you haven't completed the quests it went back to being dormant." Your fellow waitress explains.

"Damn, I'm only level 5 and the rest of you are level 1, they CAN'T be that easy."

"You're right about that, you have to be at least level 15 before you can even survive the last quest, and that only happened once, with a level 50 party guarding him and doing the heavy lifting as he went through the motions. But that's not the point, once you can wield the sword effectively leveling up should be a breeze!"

You test the sword's heft, you doubt you could do more than swing wildly with it, and slowly at that.

"Great, an incredibly powerful magic weapon that I cannot use effectively and which makes me a target for every yahoo who wants to have it for himself!" You mutter as you come upon the scene of another battle between the invading 'monsters' and defending 'heroes'.

You see five main options here: try to sneak past them while they are distracted, join in on the monster's side, join in on the hero's side, turn back, and head a different way that takes you into unknown parts of town. (Of course those aren't the only options, the possibilities here are endless!)
