PERSONS NEEDED FOR A STUDY OF SELF CONTROL

* We will pay 10 women to help us complete a scientific pilot study of self-control in relation to sexual pleasure. The study is being done at Harvard University.

* Each woman who participates will be paid $500/month to install a program in their Neuralink that will anonymously monitor and control their sexual experiences.

* The study is expected to run for approximately 4 months.

* Participants must be between the ages of 18 and 28.

The recruitment poster caught my eye one day when I was on my way to class in the psychology building. It would be a little weird letting these researchers into my head like this, but $500/month is hard to pass up for a broke college student. I looked at the QR code at the bottom of the poster and willed my Neuralink to submit an application to participate. I could always back out.

Having finally received enough applicants, I wrote up the email welcoming them to the study.

Thank you for inquiring about our Self Control Study.

The purpose of the study is to determine how effective pain is at building self-control.

Given the sexual nature of this study, we understand if you may be apprehensive.

The program will monitor your sexual activities, and will not prevent you from or **** you to do anything. However, when you are about to orgasm the program will either prevent it and simulate a painful electrical shock, or it will allow the orgasm to proceed naturally.

The deciding factor is whether or not any other participant has attempted to orgasm within the last 24 hours. So if no other participant has attempted to orgasm, then you will be allowed. Otherwise, you will receive the shock.

Additionally, depending on which group you are assigned to you, you may receive Stealth Stim, which will maintain a minimum level of arousal.

The study concludes when you have received 2 orgasms.

I reread the email, making sure it was within the ethical guidelines I had agreed on with the ethics panel.

Central to the ethical standards governing the participation of human subjects in research is the notion of respect for persons. This principle demands that subjects enter into the research voluntarily and with adequate information. When deceptive methodologies are used, participants are given incomplete or misleading information about what to expect during the study activities which compromises their ability to give fully informed consent.

Ordinarily, a research proposal failing to adhere to the principle of respect for persons by compromising the consent process would not be approved. However, since the design of my study requires the omission of details that might alter the subject’s responses that are being investigated, vital information about the study can be withheld from the subjects until after their participation.

The truth is that the program would grant one orgasm after roughly 2 weeks, and then never again. After that, it only ever administers punishment shocks. Additionally, the study does not actually conclude when they have received their second orgasm (since there is none), but when none of the participants have attempted to orgasm for 2 months.

The participants can still have sex, masturbate, and even bring themselves to the edge of orgasm. It only counts as an attempt if they try to push themselves over the edge.
