The Play

Stumbling into the big auditorium while trying to stuff the last of your lunch into the mouth, you're relieved to see everyone's still getting ready. You stroll into the room, finding a semi-frustrated looking Caoimhe looking frazzled with a clipboard. You decide to chat with her.

"Hey, Caoimhe, what's going on?"

"Oh hey, Jack," she says, quickly pecking you on the lips, but still clearly focused on her work. "You haven't seen Beth around, have you? She's printing the scripts. Or Angie with the costumes?"

"Oh, I know Angie! She's friends with my cousin, is she in...?"

"I'm really sorry, but I don't have time. We only have the auditorium for a few hours to go over the scenes, and lots of people don't know their lines and its nearly time to do it for real, and... Oh shoot, I forgot the...!"

Caoimhe spins around on the balls of her feet, running off down the hallway. Your eyes scan the room, spotting a "No Smoking" sign on the wall, which ironically makes you really want another cigarette. Well, that's definitely an addiction.

As you wonder whether to try help out or go for a cigarette, the familiar ding of a text hits your ears as your phone buzzes.
