Chapter 26 by NemoHoes NemoHoes

What next?

The Party.

After returning home from work Frank could already hear some music being played at Rachel’s house. He checked the time and saw it was 5:50. Deciding not to be too eager, Frank waited until it was a few minutes past six before heading over.

Walking up to the front door, he knocked firmly. Only a few seconds later Dave greeted him.

“Hey Frank, glad you could make it.” He said shaking his hand. “Come in, we’ve got drinks and some snacks in the kitchen.” Dave continued leading him inside.

There were around 30 people standing around chatting to each other in the relatively small house. Frank couldn’t help but feel extremely guilty, being that he had fucked this mans wife only a couple of days ago. They arrived in the living room and Rachel spotted them.

“Hi Frank!” she said excitedly, walking over and giving him a quick hug. “Dave said you were coming.”

Frank laughed inwardly at the double entendre. “I wouldn’t miss it.”

“Excuse me.” Dave said quickly, dismissing himself from the conversation.

“You look great.” Frank complimented her, looking down at her form fitting, strapless red dress that accentuated her curves.

“Thanks.” She blushed. Leaning in she whispered, “You should see my other birthday suit.”

Before they could say anymore a clinking of glasses came from a small clearing of people in the crowd. Everyone fell silent anticipating the toast.

“If I could just say a few words before we all get a bit too drunk.” Dave announced, to a few polite laughs from the crowd. “I met the love of my life when she was 23, it was my first time out of America and I was backpacking around England, when I laid my eyes on the most beautiful girl in the world. We met through mutual friends, who are actually here tonight. Jenny and Sam, where are you?” he asked raising his glass to a couple in the crowd.

Frank couldn’t help but do some quick math in his head. Noah, their oldest son was turning 12 this year, and they had met 12 years ago. Perhaps their marriage didn’t have as romantic of a beginning as Frank had thought.

“These have been the happiest years of my life. Happy Birthday Rachel, cheers everyone.” Dave wrapped up his toast to a shout of ‘cheers’.

Who does Frank talk to?
