The Party

The custodian's short interruption hadn't truly disturbed the girls' quick bonding, with Missy finding out that she and Elena had the potential to get along like gangbusters. Like herself she was a sophomore, only this was her second year at RVU. She had only just moved into the dorm because she had lived off campus her first year. After she had helped Elena get the final few of her boxes into the room, her roomie had the same idea she had about an early dinner and the pair of girls left campus to grab a bite to eat at a Taco Bell smack in the middle of Sycamore street. It was one of the streets that bordered the campus and had many businesses that catered to the student population, among them several chain restaurants and a smattering of bars and pubs. Yet when Elena suggested they continue their meet-cute someplace else, she hadn't thought of patronizing one of the nearby watering holes.

"Want to come to a sorority mixer tonight? I'm a Gamma Phi Chi sister. We are hosting a mixer with the boys from Xi Delta Psi tonight. You should totally come?" Missy had shrugged first. "I don't know Elena, pledging to a sorority isn't really my thing. I like to party, but don't want to devote that much of my time to a sorority." Elena shrugged. "No one said you had to join, I'm a full sister, I can bring guests along to this thing, you can be my guest. Come on, it'll be fun. Lots of cute boys in Xi Delta Psi!" In the end, Elena had talked Missy into it, not that it was a hard sell. Between sitting in her room with nothing much to do or going to a party, the choice was easy. So it was that both Elena and Missy headed to the Gamma Phi Chi chapter house, which was on campus, arriving at the party around 9 PM. By that point it had partially spilled out into the front garden, with boys taking turns drinking straight from the keg and a few necking couples splayed out on the benches on front porch. Elena took her hand to guide her through the throng of people inside, the music deafening until they reached the kitchen, where a large supply of booze had been arrayed on the tables. Elena prepared them both vodka cranberries, heavy on the vodka as Missy soon discovered once she took a sip.
