The Pair Start To Talk Things Over

Kenny finished grabbing the firewood and quickly made his way back towards the fire, he pulled his jacket off and tossed it down on the cave floor next to the small pile of wood, "Jesus, it's fucking cold," Kenny said under his breath while holding his hands up to the open flame, heating them slowly, "Zoey, you getting warm?" He asked while glancing over at the girl,

"Not really," Zoey weakly replied as her body continued to shiver, "But the fire's helping,"

Kenny nodded and shifted over to Zoey's side, "Here, let me just..." He muttered out while reaching over and putting his now warm hands on Zoey's arms, sliding them up and down rapidly, "Maybe you should move closer to the fire, you're kinda far away," He added on while Zoey lifted her eyes and silently stared at Kenny, "What? Oh...is that too much? Sorry, I wasn't trying to make you uncomfortable," Kenny awkwardly said while his hands started to slow,

"No, that was helping, I was just...thinking," Zoey replied flashing a small smile, "If you wouldn't mind, I'd appreciate if you kept doing that,"

Kenny swallowed and shifted slightly; he was growing a bit nervous now that Zoey was calming down and...well, constantly looking at him. He could see out of the corner of his eye that Zoey's eyes were staying trained on him, watching his every move. "S-Sure," Kenny agreed as he began to rub Zoey's arms again,

"You're a nice guy, Kenny, aren't you?" Zoey asked with a small cock of her head, "You're really thinking about everything, trying to do what's right for you and your friends."

"Uh...yeah?" Kenny replied with a small raise of his brow, "I mean, I don't want to ruin my friendship with Mindy or Nicole for that matter. It's just...it's hard, and I sure as shit don't know how to handle all this. I never had a girlfriend before, and never even kissed one until yesterday."

"But you're going to have to pick one, of course, you know that, so how are you going to handle that?" Zoey softly asked as scooted closer to him, "I mean, someone is going to be upset, how do you think you can break it to them without losing them as a friend?"

Kenny froze, and he lowered his head, "I-I hadn't...thought about that. I thought that-I didn't think it'd be that serious." He admitted, "Mindy's my best friend, I couldn't lose her over something like this and Nicole, well, she and I had never been especially close but...I mean, I was looking at her as something more before this morning."

"So you're picking Mindy?" Zoey asked before reaching over and taking Kenny's wrists into her hands, "Could you get my legs, please?" She softly added on causing Kenny to lightly nod and do as asked, rubbing Zoey's upper thighs slowly,

"I don't think so? I don't actually know who I'm picking. I thought taking the day would help me figure this out, but it really hasn't. Mindy's always been a friend, but wouldn't that make her a good girlfriend? But if something goes wrong, I'd lose a girlfriend and a friend. Nicole on the other hand, she's basically been my first everything, and I really like spending time with her. Yet, she's been acting out due to a mistake, dating someone like that could end up being bad. Like, do I need to watch myself and hope I don't fuck up, so she doesn't do anything screwed up?"

"So it'd be fair to say you're more attracted to Nicole but you like Mindy more?" Zoey asked in turn,

Kenny tilted his head to the side, and his eyes slightly widened, "U-uh...yeah, I think that sounds right." He agreed, "But things are getting worse with Rachel being in it too," Kenny tacked on causing Zoey's eyes to grow wide too,

"Wait, you're messing around with another girl too? Kenny, what are you thinking?" Zoey chastised the teen,

"It's not like Mindy or Nicole, Rachel was just trying to help me. I was freaking out over Mindy and really angry at Nikki, so Rachel helped be...calm down, you know?" Zoey nibbled on her bottom lip and nodded, "And it's not like I'm with either of them right now, and I don't know if I'm going to be with either of them anyway. Ugh...I wish things could be simple," Kenny grumbled as he shut his eyes and shook his head,

Zoey could only let out a small scoff, "Tell me about it," She agreed, "I...I'm not stupid, I understand that Eric could always have feelings for Anna but...I guess I always thought the feelings for me would outweigh anyone else,"

Kenny pursed his lips and nodded slowly, "Yeah...I really am sorry by the way, I don't even know what to say, not that I could even say anything that would make that better."

"Honestly," Zoey sweetly said while flashing Kenny a thoughtful smile, "It helps just to talk it out, don't you think?"

Kenny thought for a moment before nodding, "Actually, yeah, you're right. It's kinda...a relief, I guess, to hear that I'm not just overthinking something easy, you know?"

"Overthinking? You're trying to figure out how to break some horrible news to someone without hurting their feelings, that's commendable," Zoey sternly said, "I wish Eric would have told me something, anything, besides staying quiet while professing his love for Anna." Zoey let her head hang back, "I...I can't really blame them; it wasn't fair that they had to break up, but-"

"That's not your fault; Eric should have done the right thing and either told Anna no or ended things before moving on." Kenny firmly stated causing Zoey to smile back at him,

"Yeah...exactly," She softly agreed before going quiet while staring at him. Kenny's hands gradually began to slow to a stop, his heart beating a bit quicker as he too just stared into Zoey's eyes. Then all at once, they both pushed forward and locked lips.
