Which guest is arriving next?

The Painter & The Rainstorm

Chapter 3 by heney1282 heney1282

With Lauren away for the week on her annual “girls trip” your glad that there is only guest coming. Although as you wait by the front desk for them, you see the sky turn grey and the storms roll in.

The heavy oak front doors of the lodge creak open against the gale, letting in a swirl of damp mountain air and the rhythmic thrum of rain against the tin roof.

Jean and Lily step across the threshold, practically dripping onto the slate floor. Jean is tall and noticeably lean, his frame angular beneath a dark, paint-splattered wool coat that hangs loosely off his broad shoulders. He moves with an intent, deliberate quietness. His dark hair is wet, sticking in loose waves against his neck, and a light stubble frames a sharp jawline. Dressed unmistakably like an artist, he wears a slightly frayed linen scarf over a dark, button-up shirt and tailored, charcoal trousers tucked into mud-flecked leather boots. He cradles a heavy, leather-bound easel case against his hip with meticulous care.

The heavy oak front doors of the lodge creak open against the gale, letting in a swirl of damp mountain air and the rhythmic, deafening thrum of rain against the tin roof.

Jean and Lily step across the threshold, soaking wet and leaving a trail of water on the slate floor. Jean stands tall and noticeably lean, his long frame carrying an understated, artistic posture. He is dressed in a damp, tailored charcoal coat layered over a loose linen shirt, his dark, slightly overgrown curls sticking to his forehead from the downpour. Water trickles down his sharp jawline as he meticulously sets down a heavy leather easel case, taking care to shield his supplies despite the wet wool clinging to his slender shoulders.

Beside him, Lily presents a striking, immediate contrast. She is petite and small-stilted, yet her figure commands attention. She wears a thin, yellow floral sun dress that has been utterly saturated by the rain, transforming the light fabric into a translucent second skin that clings mercilessly to every contour of her body. The wet material outlines her narrow waist, the flare of her hips, and the complete absence of any undergarments beneath it. The damp dress presses taut against her breasts, remarkably full C-cups that seem to defy gravity, standing firm and lifted without any support, the dark crests of her nipples visibly pressing against the paper-thin cloth.

“We made it,” Lily says, her voice bright against the backdrop of the storm as she pushes a wet lock of hair from her face. She shakes out her damp hair shoulder length dirty blonde hair with a light laugh, entirely unbothered by how revealing her drenched attire has become.

Jean glances toward the large glass windows of the main room, watching the thick gray mist swallow the pine canopy outside. He sighs, a quiet, sharp breath of frustration. “The light is completely gone,” he murmurs, his accent brushing softly against the words as he pulls off his dripping leather gloves. “I came up here for the ridge at sunset. It’s just... mud and rain.”

As they approach you slide a pair of thick towels across the counter, from the stack behind the desk. “Welcome to Whispering Pines, I’m Mark, and I’m here to ensure your stay is perfect,” you say, keeping your voice steady over the roar of the rain.

Jean ignores the towel entirely, leaning his hands flat against the wooden counter. “The weather is an utter disaster,” he says, his voice thick with frustration as he gestures toward the front windows. “I came up here specifically to paint the ridge. Look at that, it’s just a wall of gray mud. I can’t set up an easel in a deluge like this.”

“Oh, come on, Jean,” Lily says softly, shaking out her wet hair and entirely unbothered by how revealing her drenched dress is. She places a small hand on his arm. “You can just look out the window from the cabin.”

Jean lets out a sharp, dismissive sigh. “Looking out a standard cabin window is like looking at a framed photograph, Lily. It’s flat. It confines the horizon. I need the full scene, the atmosphere, the whole canvas in front of me if I’m going to capture the light.”

You glance between his intense expression and Lily’s damp, form-fitting silhouette before leaning forward slightly over the desk.

“I might have exactly what you need,” you say, stepping out from behind the counter. “Follow me upstairs.”

You lead them up the wide timber staircase to the second floor of the main building, the heavy thump of rain softening against the rafters. Reaching the top, you push open the double doors to a vast, open loft space. Rolled yoga mats sit in cedar bins along the wall, a massage table rests discreetly off to the side, and the hardwood floor stretches out beneath exposed wooden beams.

Dominating the far wall is a massive, floor-to-ceiling glass window that spans the entire width of the room. Outside, the storm rages across the valley, but from inside, the panoramic view of the shrouded mountains is totally unobstructed.

Jean stops dead in his tracks, his tall, lean frame going instantly still. He walks straight to the glass, gazing out at the sweeping, dramatic landscape.

“Floor to ceiling,” Jean murmurs, his tone shifting from irritation to sudden, quiet awe. “The scale of it... the dry draft in here... this is perfect.”

Lily lingers a step behind him, wrapping her towel casually around her neck while the wet dress continues to outline every inch of her body. She turns her eyes toward you, a playful, knowing smirk touching her lips.

“Look at that, Mark,” she says softly, her voice carrying a quiet warmth in the empty loft. “I think you just turned his whole mood around.”
