The Next Day

Karen calls your cell phone just before supper on Sunday. She was called in to work as many people called in sick (from the party at the lake cottage the night before). She asks if you want to do something and if so, can you pick her up as Mr. Smith will give her a ride home but it might be a while as the store is still busy. She tells you that if she stays there long enough Mr. Smith might ask her to clock back in even though she is already in overtime. You tell her you will be at the store in less than 10 minutes and you have something to tell her about the events from last night. She says she has heard a few things too.

The first thing the two of you decide is to go to Smalltown for dinner. Smalltown is kind of a college town being located between Johnson College and Woocott Institute and home of the lowly Green River Valley Community College. It's one redeeming quality is that as such it has many food joints for the younger crowd that a town it's size usually wouldn't. You pick a place with drive thru as you may not want your conversation to be overheard.

Karen goes first and says that Amber stopped by the store on her break and said that she is sorry for how she left your Uncle's house and for what she said. Bobby's behavior really shocked her. Amber also said that she found out the real reason they were so secret was that Bobby was cheating on her with Maddie Baker and that he also fucked a girl earlier last night and this morning.

Amber had learned this from Wendy Ooglemeyer who is Maddie's cousin. Maddie is 19 and still in high school as she isn't an overachiever like her cousin. Amber and Wendy get together to study on Sunday mornings. Maddie asked for a ride over to Bobby's house from Wendy before she was to meet Amber and caught him naked with a girl named Abby. Wendy was a neighbor to you and Bobby until her family moved out to the suburbs when you were all in third grade. You were all best friends and still get along although it has been awhile since the three of you were all together. Wendy went in with her cousin as Maddie had told her she was pregnant with Bobby's kid.

Bobby is boasting to Maddie that he doesn't need her and isn't helping with her kid and that it probably isn't even his. He found this great girl last night. This is incredulous as Maddie is a thin blonde girl with a very pretty face, nice breasts and butt, and great hair. Abby is short, overweight, with floppy tits and a fat (not PHAT) ass, and has oily stringy brown hair. Bobby then lights up a joint and after taking a big toke passes it to Abby. Wendy is in complete shock as this is not the Bobby she knew as a kid.

The girls leave and Wendy takes Maddie back to her house and is a little late getting to Amber's. Wendy, not knowing that Amber was seeing Bobby until last night, tells her everything as she is still kinda shell shocked. Amber is at first pissed at her studymate but explains to Wendy why she is and Wendy understands. The girls agree that they can't concentrate and cancel the study session.

They then dealt with their emotions over a lot of chocolate ice cream and Amber says she has to talk to Karen and Wendy says she will go to see her cousin. Karen told Amber that she is still a little mad at her but will get over it and has to work and they will talk soon. Karen says it's your turn.

You tell Karen that Tom told you a few hours ago that Bobby has his cousin Erica pregnant and isn't going to help her. Tom said he was going to fight you and him. You tell him that Bobby isn't your friend now and with this news, probably never will be again. You told him about Agnes and Amber. You also reminded him that he never has a chance against you in a fight but understand his anger. You concluded that while you can see his wanting to beat Bobby, Bobby is a better fighter than him and he might get injured.

You agreed to get him some hard booze from your stash at your Uncle's and to take him somewhere to work it out. Tom called you back 20 minutes later and said Jon was on his way to pick him up. Jon had called him right after Tom called you and said that he needed to drink a problem away. Tom told him so did he and Tom said Jon was on his way to get him. They were going to a remote spot known as Smith Fish Camp and you all know the basement bar is better stocked than the small lake next to the camp.

You have been driving around on beat up roads but find yourself near Lost Turtle Lake. Uncle Jim has a friend who has a small cottage here that you look after as he is out of town. It is closed up for the season but you unlocked the gate and drive far enough in so your van won't be seen from the road. After a long intense make out session you drop Karen off at her mom's house. You will pick her up for school in the morning.
