The Naughty Women of the Noughties

Summerslam 2002 was in full swing by the time Howard Finkle came wandering out to the ring in his best tuxedo to announce that now was the time that the crowd had all been waiting for and he wouldn’t be wrong as although it wasn’t the main event, there wasn’t a male fan in attendance who had not been desperately awaiting the 4 way elimination Evening Gown Pool match! Only the second of it’s kind to have ever been held, the first taking place at Armageddon 1999 and most people had thought they would never get another. That was until Stephanie McMahon decided that the women of the WWE had become complacent in their positions in the company and there needed to be more movement in the woman’s title scene.

The answer to how to achieve this was simple, Stephanie would make the women finally move the ratings needle and get the title moving at the same time by having a fatal four way match for the title and how better to get the eyes on the action than by prettying up the women and making them wrestle in a swimming pool? Well maybe if they wrestled naked but that wasn’t going to happen, at least not at the moment.

And now the crowd was almost rabid as they awaited for the match to begin, cheering loudly as The Fink announced the rules for the match and called out that it was time, being cut off by the music of the first competitor.
