Where next?
The National History Museum
Museum Director Irma Goodwill nervously wrings her hands as she paces back and forth across the length of the Ancient Egyptian Room of the city National History Museum, her heels clacking loudly, almost in rhythm with the ticking of the large clock over the door to the Exhibit Room. "Oh, dear oh, dear oh, dear.." she frets for the hundredth time "Do you think we've done enough to boost security, Mr. Frost?"
Edward Frost, the Museum Head of Security, sighs for the umpteenth time but puts on the best smile he can manage "Like I keep telling you, Mrs. Goodwill, I followed the advice the Police gave us to the letter and then some. I've locked and bolted all the windows, tripled the number of patrols coming in and out and I went so far as to cancel all but the most serious cases of Staff Leave to increase manpower. There's no way that Thief is going to steal anything in this Museum, not on my watch,Mrs. G-" but the man suddenly cuts off mid sentence and stands mouth open. Goodwill is frozen mid step, eyes on her watch, and one of the four Guards standing either side of the central display case stops as he scratches his nose. For a while, the room is devoid of movement until the Guard facing Frost and Goodwill suddenly begins to move " 'Not on your watch', eh? Probably not the best thing to say, given I'm about to steal it.." and to make the point, he slips Frost's watch off of his wrist and plops it into his sack whilst the Security Chief stands helplessly.
"You know, he ought to be like you, Missus.." he chuckles as he turns his attention to the chubby little Director, still focused on her watch "All these precautions do is stop other people from easily getting in. Me? It's true I can't pass through a locked door but neither can you, so all I need to do is wait until someone unlocks and opens that door and then slip past them whilst time is frozen. " Goodwill says nothing and continues to stand motionless, as her watch, earrings, pearl necklace and wedding ring are stolen.
Finally, he turns to the remaining three Guards, still frozen in position." As for you fellas, again, you're only useful if you can move." he takes hold of the Guard frozen whilst scratching his nose and sticks his fingers up his nose. He drops the pants of the other two, as well as Frost's, before taking a large bunch of keys from Goodwill's pocket and unlocks the cabinet " The Totem of Cleopatra.." he smiles "This'll look nice on my mantlepiece, don't you think?" he jokingly asks as he places the keys into the frozen Director's hand.
Whistling, he leaves the room, whilst those remaining just continue to stand motionless.
