The Meeting

Peter knocked on the Deans office door and entered as she called from inside "come in" He walked boldly in and sat without asking in front of her. She wrinkled her forehead in annoyance as he did so but instead said.

"Peter the decision has been made to end your tenure due to your unethica-"

"excuse me ms Dean but I think you will find that I can only have my tenure taken away if I was to for example give it up, which I do not."

The dean had a confused look on her face, Peter could tell she was fighting as her memory conflicted with her new reality. She made a show of shuffling through the university rules then just sighed.

"I had hoped you would step aside without making things difficult for us, there are still things I can do and I will do whatever it takes to have you shut down until you voluntarily leave this institution!"

"Oh I am looking forward to your attempts Dean" He said mockingly

Peter rose, winked at the Dean, knowing she could do nothing to stop him and strutted away, his new found immunity like wearing steel armor. No one could touch him now, He was free to do what he wanted.

What peter Did not realize is that Rules are just that Rules and people had a long habit of breaking and bending them when they were in the way and If a rule flew too much in the face of decency or acceptance... People had ways of getting around them, But for now Peter was safe, the dean and many others were after all mostly model citizens and followed rules unthinkingly.

Peter returned to his office and began mentally running through a list of people he might take on as an assistant. What he needed was a keen mind, a genius like himself. There were many students like this but the other professors had scooped them up, no one wanted to work where it was morally questionable. that kind of thing tarred you with the brush of a pariah and students so dearly wanted to be employed somewhere respectable.
