In our world, rape is derived from the Latin word rapere, meaning "to steal, to seize, or carry away." But here, rape is derived from the Old English word, *Ræpe, meaning "rough, intense, or overwhelming."

Ræpe comes from the proto-Germanic *Ræphän, meaning "to be pleasured roughly, to be overwhelmed", and itself is derived from the proto-Indo-European *Ʀâƥsḩōn, meaning "Rough sex, intense lovemaking, or overwhelming ecstasy."
