The Meaning of Goon

Just like in our world, a Goon or Gooner is a derogatory insult for someone who only thinks or cares about sex and has an unhealthy addiction to smut. In this world however, the word has a much longer history.

Goon is derived from Gheux - a French insult that came into existence sometime during the mid 18th century and is used to describe someone who is - or has - a "cum brain" (All they think or talk about is sex). If someone is Gheux, then they're a boring, degenerate loser and you shouldn't associate yourself with them.

"Reste loin de cet homme, c'est un gheux!"

("Stay away from that man, he is a cum-brain!")

In France, there was a popular children's newspaper comic strip called 'L'Gheux' which ran from 1890-1915. The comic followed the cartoony misadventures of L'Gheux - a dirty, smelly, small-dicked man with stereotypical Jewish features (this was the late 19th-early 20th century after all) traveling through Europe and trying to pillage women with over-the-top villainous schemes. He fails every time and every ending has him getting his comeuppance in various dark-yet-hilarious ways. Essentially, L'Gheux was the original Coomer Soyjak meme.

For the English speaking world, the word was Anglicized by none-other than British novelist Charles Dickens, who on August 13, 1863 wrote a scathing and incredibly controversial poem called, 'Isle of Shameless Sin: The Damned Ghoughners of Britannia'.

Dickens wrote the poem as a way for him to express how absolutely disgusted he was with the unchecked sexual degeneracy of modern English society - London in particular - that every class was guilty of; the nobility especially with Queen Victoria being chief among them due to her being featured in numerous smut magazines (as if she was some godless peasant whore and not the Monarch of the largest Christian empire the world has ever known) and her & Prince Albert basically turning Buckingham Palace into a brothel that housed some of the finest whores from all corners of the British Empire - especially India.

After being brought over to America in the mid-late 1870s, the word underwent a slight alteration - being shortened from Ghoughne to its modern Americanized spelling of Goon.
