“Wait...” Timmy said “Shield? THE shield?”

“Yes...” the man said with a sigh like he explained this all before. “I warn you the events and stories you might have seen are more or less true from my perspective, but they’re not exactly what you’re expecting. I’m here because someone in your segment of the multiverse uploaded a pretty nasty virus to my wife’s phone and it is wreaking havoc on our base’s computer system.”

“I know nothing about that... this isn’t even how the world is supposed to be...”

“Look, Miss, I really...”

“I’m not a girl.” Timmy said

“Oh, I’m sorry, should not have assumed”

“No, no, it’s not that...”

Timmy explained to the man what had happened.

“Okay... so, where’s this book now.”

“You believe me?” He asked.

Scott held out his hand and the brush in Timmy’s flew out to meet it.

“How did you...” Timmy asked, a jumble of emotions.

“It’s a long story, suffice to say... your story about the book isn’t remotely the strangest thing I’ve ever head. My grandmother is an alien from another galaxy. Their species has a legend of things that can do much the same... the name translates to ‘Reality Engine.”

“You’re an ALIEN?”

“1/4 alien, 1/4 baseline human, 1/2 Inhuman. We need to have a word with your boyfriend...”
