Chapter 2 by Curinth Curinth

What happens next?

The Household rises to investigate.

Meanwhile indoors, young Emily Jarowski bolted upright, sweat dripping down her brow. She had just been startled from a wretched nihtmare by the rumbles rippling through her home. Darkness surrounded her, and for a moment, she thought that she was still dreaming. Her long, dirty-blonde hair was all over the place- tossed and knotted from her chaotic sleeping habits. Blue eyes shimmered in the darkness, staring out her window. She saw the object, the thing that had caused this. Curious, she slipped from her bed, and slid out her bedroom door. First thing's first: the teen had to see if the boom had awakened anyone else.

The girl's bare feet made no sounds on the soft carpet of the upstairs hall. She creapt first to her brother's room, but found him still rolled over in his bed, fast asleep. He always was a heavy sleeper. Next she moved to her parents' room...only to collide with her mother. They both tumbled to the floor, and when they'd recovered, Emily found herself meeting another pair of blue eyes, startled and worried.

"Emy! Christ girl, you scared the hell out of me." Panting, she rose back up, brushing herself off. She then extended a hand, offering to help her daughter up. Once both were standing again, she continued, "Get back to your room alright? I'm going to go see whatever the hell that was. Lock your door, ok?" Concern flashed through the woman's face, and, flashlight in hand, she began to walk away before Emily had a cance to reply. However, the girl called after her anyways.

"Mom! I'm going with you. I'm not a kid, ok? Look, I'll just grab a flashlight ok?"

"Fine." Her mother glared at her, not bothering to mount any further argument. From there, both women headed outside. They had to maneuver past their two Lab puppies, who were growling and barking at the back door. Once outside, they turned their flashlights on, and proceeded into their foresty backyard. The mother headed for the strange object, while Emily wandered half-hazardly through the tall grasses. She was swiftly getting soaked, but at least the wind had died down.

What a night...

Who finds the creature first?
