The Homecumming Dance

Leah let out a deep sigh as she considered the next few dreadful hours of having to work the homecoming dance. She knew the kids all loved it and it wasn't as difficult as Prom. Much more lowkey and overall a more relaxed atmosphere. Still, she had to be there and it just made her Friday even longer. Not like she got paid overtime. She got to the gym where the dance was going to be held and saw that a few teachers had already been positioned around the large concrete building from what must have been built in the 70s based off the distinct smell. Only some of the school staff had to work the dance. The coaches of course got to go home and enjoy the fruits of their victory. They never had to work shit like this. Daniel wouldn't be here because he had tenure and could skip it.

Leah noticed the band director Jason was hovering near the food and drink table busy rearranging some cups while sneaking a cookie from a tray. She could also just sit at the ticket counter and relax with whoever else got stuck with her at the duty. It was nice because once the rush was over her job was done. Leah also considered monitoring the dance floor. It was the easiest job to move around and "monitor" the students while in reality she could slip away from the dance floor and give Jonathan a quick call.
