The Harem

All over Star City, and in many other major metropolitan areas of the United States, the Robin Hood inspired hero Green Arrow keeps secret bases and hidey holes. The billionaire has funneled his money and sense of caution into guaranteeing that these locations are secret even to other heroes. Call it caution, commonsense, or just plain paranoia, but Porter shared Green Arrow’s desire for secrecy. He could go anywhere he could imagine, but being closer to home was better for what he needed to do.

Over the past couple of weeks, Jonah had been meticulously putting the pieces together. He had made the fateful decision that if he wanted to keep his secrets safe, he needed to protect them actively, which meant control. The form of control came from Miss Martian’s mind-bending telepathic powers and his ability to copy them. So far, he had kept his adventures compartmentalized. But now he saw the benefit of bringing his conquests together. They could become greater than the sum of their parts with a tight leash.

Within an underground bunker below a rundown coffee shop, Porter had gathered his sexual partners, all of whom had significant psychic conditioning. Miss Martian, Wonder Girl, Starfire, and Black Canary. They had all arrived at different times and from various directions. All of them wore their hero costumes to lend the meeting an air of believability in case they were discovered.

“Are you sure that there are no bugs and cameras?” Jonah asked.

“I’m sure. Nobody knows about my dens. Not even Batman, I checked.” Green Arrow responded with pride. While not sexually involved with Jonah, he had made sure that Green Arrow was also mentally conditioned due to his close relationship with Black Canary and for the use he provided as his employer in the civilian world. This way, Jonah was up for a promotion or two above his station.

“Ladies gather around.” Jonah announced to the group. The mingling superheroines surrounded him. “Knell.” He ordered, testing their resistance. Although their faces betrayed their usual nature to that request, they all followed his order and knelt before him.

It was all going to plan. Jonah wanted the women to retain their personalities after all. That way, their changes would be hidden and remain personable.

Just looking at the four women gave Jonah a rush. The power he felt was unlike anything he had ever experienced before. He felt a heat well in his heart like an instinctual pleasure. Below him were two aliens, a metahuman, and god blessed warrior. All under his control.

“Why are you here, girls?”

“To serve you, master.” Starfire declared immediately.

“To make you happy.” Miss Martian answered.

“For you. For us.” Said Wonder Girl.

“Whatever you need of me.” Black Canary finished.

“Perfect.” Jonah stood tall over the women. “Now, you may or may not have guessed who you would have seen tonight, but now you know. You all share a common thread with all of the other people in this room. You are all part of one greater purpose—a duty to your fellow man as heroes and that your heart and mind belong to me. In history, many great empires have featured a harem—a collection of women of varying ranks within the imperial system. Unlike Western perceptions of the harem, it wasn’t only about sex. It was also about family, court management, and political advice. While holding no official power, their proximity to the emperor and the assistance they gave them created a system of soft power. The great Ottoman and Chinese emperors knew the power of a well-functioning harem. Now, I am no emperor, but that doesn’t mean the idea holds no value. An organized system allows for control. And control brings peace.”

“That is very wise. My people used a very similar system.” Starfire added.

“Great minds think alike, Kori. Cultures doubly so. For now, you are all equals in the harem. But it would be wise for me to pick a chief consort eventually. Though that shall come later.” With that addition, the women looked at each other warily. A part of the love for Jonah would undoubtedly manifest as a desire to be the closest to him. These were all fierce women; you had to be to succeed as a superhero. “Our esteemed Oliver Queen will act as a chief eunuch of sorts. While fully capable in his… abilities, he shall aid and protect you all as needed.”

“It seems you’ve thought about this a lot Jonah,” Cassie said.

“I’ve done some reading, yes. It was a necessity for success. The conditions are a perfect segue to the most important part of this meeting. If we are to remain a hidden, and therefore a surviving, harem, we must follow some strict rules. The first is that this harem is a complete secret. You shall act in your daily life as you did before. Even the existence of any relationship with me is to remain passing at best. You shouldn’t even reference it to each other unless it’s an emergency or during your duties as a harem member. I shall allow personal discretion to interpret that rule. For all the world knows, we are friends and past flings. Second, from now on, I will initiate rendezvous. No matter how horny you get, you cannot come to me unannounced. We must avoid patterns at all costs. My powers allow secrecy of movement that yours do not. Third, one of your main responsibilities is to facilitate the expansion and protection of the harem. It is here that I expect initiative.” Jonah took a deep breath. He had been preparing that speech for days. He still felt he was missing rules or contingencies, which would come later. “Now, I ask you. Do you understand these conditions as spoken, and do you consent to your induction into this harem?”

“Yes!” five voices announced together.

“Good. Then let us enjoy the fruits of our labor.”
