The Gap

Lauren shamefully waddled over to the Gap with her mom. Her cheeks were burning from that exchange with Stacey. How the mighty had fallen! The mighty, of course, being Lauren. At least that's how she used to think of herself.

While Lauren was lost in a labyrinth of self pity and shame, her mom pulled her into the store. She looked around for a clerk, then spotted a young woman with a name-tag.

"Excuse me, could you help us?" Lauren's mother asked.

The woman swung around and Lauren recognized her. Lauren had been here often, and for some reason this same thin redhead was always her cashier. Lauren had berated her a few times about the quality of clothes here, the style, and even the woman's personal appearance. Maybe a little bitchy, but Lauren demanded excellence when it came to clothes!

The redhead turned. Her eyes widened when she saw Lauren, then she grinned, looking Lauren over. Lauren instantly regretted all her cruel words.

"My name is Kim, what can I do for you?" The young woman asked, her eyes never leaving Lauren...
