Chapter 7 by earpsrhot earpsrhot

Is that the last problem Vanessa's going to have with the ever-troublesome harness? Is the Enchantress or fairy needed on stage next?

The Enchantress isn't immune to harness problems either

They were getting up to the big scene and there was only one concussion, and no broken bones (Sandra had been a close call, but apparently she was fine, they were just waiting for her to come to). That probably counted for something, given their track record, even if it didn't feel it.

Vanessa looked dubiously at the Enchantress' costume. There wasn't much left. The crew had made a valiant effort to try and turn it back into something wearable, but as it was, it was barely a toga. Angled slightly, she could have it go from one shoulder, then curl up around her hip, leaving one shoulder, most of her back and all of her legs bare, though at least it was a better option than the fairy dress had offered.

Getting in was fiddly. Just as fiddly was the reminder that the Enchantress' next scene featured a demonstration of her power, which included a bit of levitation; in the absence of anywhere to put the harness now, it had been fixed to her underwear as the sturdiest thing she had on.

Hopefully it would go okay.

Vanessa nervously adjusted the dress, took a deep breath, then at the sound of music, strode out.

It was the throne room again. The other half of her dress was still stuck to the chair. Vanessa looked away. This was one of the biggest scenes of the show, long, important, hopefully dramatic.

"So, the knight is already here," she said. she wasn't entirely sure how the Enchantress would know that, but she had been absent for a few scenes. "So be it!"

She flung her hands out dramatic; it was meant to cue a pyrotechnic. Nothing happened. She hesitated, then tried again, succeeding only in accidentally punching Robert, another of the actors.

Hastily, she drew her hands back. Robert took a moment to straighten, cutting a fine figure as the Black Knight, able to shout to his hearts content.

"Shall I-" he began. The visor on his helmet clanged shut. Annoyed, he pushed it open. "Shall I face-" clang. He grunted, pushed it up, and in one breath shouted his line. "ShallIfacehiminbattleEnchantress?"

Clang.

"If he makes it this far, per-"

There was a small explosion near the front of the stage as one of the pyrotechnic fireballs that was meant to demonstrate her power earlier went off. Vanessa jumped, felt her attempt at a costume slip, and nervously straightened it.

"Perhaps," Vanessa finished, shaked.

There was another bang. Both Vanessa and Robert took a step back. she eyed the front of the stage warily.

"But I doubt he shall make it so far," Vanessa said. "I am, after all, the Enchantress, ruler of all I survey. Mwahahaha, mwahahahaa, mwahahahaaa!"

She threw her arms upwards. Then waited a few seconds. Robert watched her awkwardly.

"Mwahahahaaa!" she tried again.

After a few more seconds, she gestured upwards. That was the cue for the levitation! Could she just get this over with.

"Mwahahahahahahahaha?" she said.

That time she did feel the harness pull. Unfortunately she also heard, and felt, a tear as her underwear proved unable to handle the strain, only to be wrenched off and dangled high over center stage. Vanessa yelped, and yelped again as the flailing rope also managed to break through the threads that held the remains of her dress together, seeing it slip to the stage.

For a moment, she stammered, stood in shock as she realized all the audience could see her. Then, as Robert quickly moved in front of her, she crouched, lifting up the half-dress and clutching it in front of her entirely nude body, trembling a little.

Not even underwear now; her panties were still dangling over her head. Only clinging on to this scrap of fabric was stopping her from being entirely exposed. The scene wasn't even nearly over! Vanessa swallowed.

"With, er, control of the skies, what can he do?" Vanessa squeaked. "Follow me, my warrior, to the window!"

She didn't move. Carefully she took a step sideways, realized that was impractical, and awkwardly shuffled on the spot, still holding the remains of the dress between her and the audience. She squealed as she realized the crew could still see her from the other side.

Not that there was anything she could do about that. Unsteadily, she neared the place where the window was meant to be.

It was a blank spot of stage. Vanessa blinked.

A stagehand hastily wheeled it on, giving it a kick to send the set piece onto stage. It kept going, crashing into Vanessa and seeing her sprawling back onto the floor, losing her grip of the dress. She squealed, scrabbling onto all fours, then crawling over to where the tattered sheet lay, picking it up and hurriedly getting back to her feet. Her chest was heaving by the time she stood again, clutching it nervously to her body, her side facing the audience, and her face too flushed to want to look towards them.

At least her character was meant to be peering out the window.

"I will, er, venture beyond and strike down those in the city who oppose me. If he remains, you will have your fight," Vanessa said.

Then she continued to stare at the window. She knew what was meant to happen next. The harness would lift her though the U-shaped hole, she'd float over a few small bits of set, there'd be some tricks to make it look impressive, then she'd fly back into the throne room.

Only she wasn't on the harness and, oh yeah, she was naked.

Vanessa took a deep breath. The show must go on, they said.

"As much as-" clang. Robert groaned. "AsmuchasI," clang. Grunt. "Hopetofighthim, I," clang. "AGH." He resorted to holding the visor open with one hand. "I hope to see him tremble in fear in response to your magnificent ass-"

He yelped as the sword holster fell off his armor and landed on his foot. Vanessa blushed.

"-nal of spells!" Robert yelped to finish, hopping slightly.

"Indeed," Vanessa said, more squeakily than a usual evil Enchantress.

She looked at the window with trepidation. Carefully she took a step closer, then realized it was too high to just step over. This was why she needed that stupid harness...

Clutching her dress with one hand, she reached forwards with the other, pulling herself a little way closer, shifting her balance to get her breasts level with the top, so she could start to pull her way through.

She got as far as her midriff before the dress slipped out of her hands. She wailed, but was too committed to climbing over now. Her bare legs kicked frantically behind her as she slowly drifted over and down, before gravity took hold and she thudded into the stage on the far side.

Blushing furiously, she resorted to reaching around the outside of the set piece to snatch her dress back, holding it between her body and the audience again as she straightened, trying not to think about how much they must have seen already.

How does the rest of the scene go? How much more exposure does Vanessa face?
