Divine/dəˈvaɪn/: relating to or coming from a god or pantheon of gods.

Throughout the universe, every sentient species from the people of the planet Krypton to the people of the planet Tamaran worship either a single deity or even a whole pantheon. The Kryptonian have Rao and his pantheon, while the Tamaraneans have X’Hal, even the ancient people of Sol III, a.k.a. Earth, have plenty of pantheons. Some are made up of many gods while others house only 1; the monotheistic pantheons usually consist of a single deity with creatures known ‘angels’ swearing loyalty to them. Polytheistic pantheons have multiple deities with a god or goddess each representing 1 or more attributes.

Deities come about through multiple ways; often mass worship creates them through sheer belief in an ideal or the worshiping of a single person or persons through the people like Bast. Other deities obtain divinity through evolution like the Aesir and Vanir of Asgard who reincarnate after every Ragnarök. Some gods or goddesses take a direct role in mortal lives like Einridi, Thor; some deities take indirect roles and speak through their champion or champions like Bast and her Black Panthers of Wakanda. Some deities gift powers to mortals while others mate with a mortal to create demigods like Herakles or his niece, Hippolyte. It is a wonder how many deities affect the universe despite when most view them as mere myth. Of course, many myths have a basis in truth, the trick is to understand that not all of said stories should be taken literally, like the Christian Holy book.
