The Day After

News of the Replaying Labyrinth quickly broke the next day. Rumors began to spread of how its founder had died years before he could actually see his game show become a reality, and how it was his ghost that had seen its development through out of the grudge he held towards the woman that had killed him.

"Ridiculous." Nami crumpled the paper in her hands. After digging her way out from under the debris, everything and everyone involved with the sick game had mysteriously disappeared. There were no records of any broadcasts or staff working the place, and the only proof that the labyrinth had existed at all was now scattered in the wreckage of a shoddily built construct.

The Game Master himself had vanished as well. All she found of him were the tattered remains of his tacky top hat. Thinking about it now, the navigator had to wonder if he had ever existed at all. Had he just been another memory created to suit the labyrinth's needs?

She sighed, leaning back into her chair at a certain cafe. Her brain fumed from the absurdity of it all. After all that effort, what had she gained? Even the entrance fee that contestants were made to pay at the door was gone without a trace.

But where had it all gone...?

A perverted game on such a grand scale had to have some connections to deep pockets somewhere. If she were to ever find them...

A cheeky smile crawled across her face. There was some satisfaction knowing that she had just single-handedly destroyed some big-time scheme. If they were the types to hold a grudge and come find her–her hand traced along the weapon at her waist–she'd be ready.

Until then, there was still time before the rest of her crew reconvened. For now she'd keep a low profile, enjoy the sights... Maybe rob a noble or two.

For now, she looked forward to the time when she'd be able to set sail again with her friends, and make many more memories to come.
