The Closet

This the closet would be the safest place for her to hide, Vanessa ran to the closet. Luckily the door wasn’t locked, allowing Vanessa to slip into the room and close the door behind her. The closet was pitch black and she could barely see her hand in front of her face. Yet, the darkness was not the issue at hand as Vanessa pressed her ear against the door. On the other side, Vanessa heard a loud metal clang from the door being ripped off of its hinges. Vanessa couldn’t believe how strong that small thing was. If it knew she was in the closet, this door would do nothing to slow it down.

Vanessa listened with bated breath as she heard the Cow Catcher patrolling the shipping area. The minutes felt like hours as Vanessa’s thoughts were focused on the machine’s low humming. Vanessa felt the oxygen leave her body when the Cow Catcher stopped right outside the closet door. Every second that went by Vanessa expected the door to be destroyed by the horrid machine. Instead, after what seemed like an eternity, the Cow Catcher continued onward. The sound of its movements growing softer and softer until Vanessa was absolutely sure they were gone.

Vanessa had never been so stressed in her life, her heart feeling like it was going to give out any minute now. After taking a few deep breaths to try and calm her nerves, Vanessa felt ready enough to leave the closet. Yet, when she tried to turn the handle, she found that the door was completely stuck. Vanessa started to panic again, trapped alone in the darkness. Vanessa began to reach out for anything she could find to open the door. There had to be something in the closet, right?
