The Climb

This is going to take all day at this rate.

Having reached the third floor I thought it was time again for another rest. I sat down on the steps and put my briefcase down on my right, removing a small piece of paper from it to fan myself as I put my jacket down on my left. The openness of the bottom of my shirt had been helping me cool down too.

Why don't they have air conditioning in this stairwell? I'm boiling!

I lifted the waistband of my trousers as high as I could and used the paper to fan some cool air down there too. Not my most elegant moment.

I heard something flump against the floor to my left. I looked and down on the bottom floor was my jacket, it had slid from the step and over the edge under the handrail.

Ohhhh just great! All the way at the bottom! Oh dammit!... I'll get it on my way out.

I thought for a moment.

Hey, sitting like this has given me an idea.

Staying sat down on the steps I reached my arms back and lifted myself up to the next step, this was much faster! And pain-free!

10 minutes of climbing later.

Yesss! Making great progress now... only four more floors to go.

*RIIIIP!!!*

OHMIGOD! NO!

The back of my trousers had caught on the rough edge of a step, tearing the back open. I landed abruptly on the next step, my bare ass against the cold concrete step.

Ohhhh nooo! Why'd I have to go FUCKING COMMANDO!!! Sheesh! Yet another sewing job once I get upstairs.
