The Bartender

You ask the bartender how her day was, attempting to start a conversation, but her answer was vague enough to make the conversation fizzle out before it started. You ask her for another drink afterwards, drinking it over the course of 30 minutes while watching the bar's television.

You attempt another question by asking her how yesterday's were. She seemed a little more interested in you than before, perhaps charmed by your respectful persistence in contrast to the persistence of men with less tact. Even still, the conversation doesn't last long as she is pulled away by another customer.

A few minutes later, you order another drink. You intend to try for another conversation with her, but the bar gets a lot busier and you don't get the chance.
