The Baby Section

Alexa followed closely behind her mom as she pushed the cart, but gasped as they headed into the baby section of the store. They turned down the aisle that had all types of different diapers. Ranging from newborns to elderly. “M-mom…”

“We need to get you new diapers,” Her mom said as she pushed the cart further down the aisle towards the labels that said Teenager and Youth. “What size do you wear?”

Alexa blushed not believing not was having this conversation with her mom. “Y-youth…” she said. “I’m too small for the teenage sizes.”

Her mom nodded as she grasped one of the packages. She watched as she picked it up and turned it around, reading the back.

“I think we need both nighttime and daytime diapers,” Helen said. “What do you think of these?”

Alexa’s ears burned as she saw her mom holding extra absorbent disposable diapers that had childish designs on them.

“A-are there any plain ones?” Alexa asked.

Her mom looked and shook her head. “The only plain ones are these. They aren’t going to give you the protection you need.”

She said as she gestured to the pull up diapers.

Alexa gulped as her mom picked up another package and examined them. “Oh these ones are resealable,” Helen said as she held them up.

Alexa’s jaw dropped. They were even worse than the other pair. They had baby bottles and rattles on it for decoration. “Please… there has to be something else,” Alexa pleaded.

Helen paused as she continued to look.
