The Ariadne Network (Technology)

The Ariadne is a Large Network of Relays that serve as a Navigation Assist System that Directs Ships to their Destination, and it can also facilitate Long Range Communications. Each Relay in The Network is known as a "Transponder" and is given its own Four Digit Identification Number. Each Transponder is equipped with a Minovsky Fusion Reactor, and they are akin to Autonomous Space Floating Lighthouses. They are place at around 1 Million Kilometer (621,371.2 Mile) Intervals and The Interlocking Navigational Devices on board Ships use them as Signposts. Each Transponder constantly Generates a Specific Wavelength of Minovsky Particle Waves so a Traveling Ship is always able to sense The Unique Particle Waves and Thus will always know The Specific Location of The Closest Transponder and where they are in relation to The Network.

At The Same Time, Each Transponder is able to sense The Positioning of Neighboring Transponders from their Minovsky Waves, and know their own coordinates. If there is a Deviation for some reason, It would be able to Adjust its Positioning using its Thrusters. In Addition, by utilizing The Mechanism that The Transponders use to relay their Position, It can also be used as Relay Points for Communications. Via Transponders, by using Continuous/Multiple Short Distance Communications, Long Distance Communication is Possible. Because of the well known The Jamming Effects of Minovsky Particles and Ahab Waves, It is impossible to Communicate at Long Distances without The Ariadne Network.

The Ariadne Network was Originally Constructed using Technology prior to The First Bug War, But The Ariadne's Communication Routes were severely limited due to The Many Space Battles of that event and of The OverTech Wars that followed shortly after.

After The Wars Ended, The Ariadne Network was seized under The Jurisdiction of The Alaska-Based Arbrau Company of The Outer Sphere, and continued to Function Thanks to Continuous Repairs and Maintenance. The Ariadne Communication Routes are made available by Arbrau to Any Space Vessel by paying a Predetermined Toll Fee.

By using The Ariadne's Long Abandoned Outer Circumference Route, Where Arbrau's Surveillance is Limited, It is possible for Pirates and Illegal Merchant Ships to use The Transponders for Navigation. Also contrary to what Arbrau would have The General Public believe, An Outsider with The Correct Expertise and Enough Skill could also infiltrate and use The Network for their own purposes.

Nearly every Modern Mobile Suit built today is equipped with LCS (Laser Communication System) for Short Distance Communications and to facilitate Direct Audio and Video Communications between Multiple Parties. It works by using a light Wavelength that is close to Visible Light, as Visible Light can't be easily Disrupted by Minovsky Particles or Ahab Waves.

However, If something gets in between It and The Communication Target, The Line will Disappear. It can be said to be akin to a Yarn Phone, and Its Communication Range can be Extended with The Use of LCS Drones.
