Chapter 6
So, about this 'Starting Area'?
The Amazonian Empire: Tristan District (Part 1)
"Here we go, just try to follow along." I begin and the new world expands to engulf us once more...
For over 100 years The Amazonian Empire has grown throughout the world, expanding year by year through conquest, subversion, marriages, and traditional colonization. The Empire's power rests in the hands of a line of Empress Regnant, 'Negroid' Amazons from the first to the latest, who wield their authority by their strength of arms and a unique piece of regalia: the 'Human' Skeleton Key!
Times uncounted people have come to steal the 'Key Imperial' by murdering the current Empress, and times uncounted 'The Immortal Eighty-Eight', the Empress' personal guard, have cut them down with their Daisho.
Dozens of times the Empire has lost colonies (which they refer to as 'Districts') to 'softening', the water that flows from the taps turning saline and not recovering over a year or more, but such events are SETBACKS, not endings, for 'The Immortals' and the Empress come, usher everyone out of the district taking with them as much of it's goods and chattels as they can relocate, especially the 'key to the colony', and the empress simply closes and locks the door, then the colony's key unlocks it again, and though most of it's inhabitants are reduced to refugees since the new 'district' will be significantly smaller, the 'district' itself is reborn and recovers They also hold the current record for the longest a colony has persisted with it's water having 'gone soft': 50 years before the taps again started to flow with pure water: namely the capitol of 'Harlem' District, which only 'recovered' last year. For those 50 years all potable water in the capitol was shipped in via Carboys from other districts, and ergo was strictly rationed.
'Harlem' is a vast, vast colony, and quite naturally so since when they are able to put up a window they need not worry about securing one of the rare type 2 golden keys to open it: the current Empress simply makes a public appearance and does the honors with the Key Imperial. It's wholly euclidean spaces stretch for dozens of miles at this point, and it is a hub for trade and commerce covering thousands of miles worth of the non-euclidean world.
You however do not live there, and most likely wont for quite some time: space in the capitol, though vast: is also expensive and tightly regulated, and you are not at the level of power and prestige where you could petition for the status of 'Citizen of the Imperial District', very few people can unless they were born there, only a double handful or so each year: which you four certainly do not make the cut.
Rather you are residents of a recently established 'District' on the fringes of the Empire: called 'Tristan' after the man who secured the key that opened it. In terms of distance traversed close to 200 miles and not less than 3 other districts lie between yourselves and the capitol, and out here on the fringes there are dangers in the pathways that only exist in fairytales to the people in the capitol. Revers, Demons, Vampires, Werewolves, Plague Zombies, Tunnel Folk, Terminators, nightmare horrors out of the 'Sub-Basements', and worse things can be found this far out...
“Wait, the 'Sub-Basements' what are the 'Sub-Basements'?” Sarah asked.
Do you go back to explain the 'Sub-Basements' or tell everyone to hold their questions?
