The Amazon Protege

The next morning, after a shared morning shower, Ororo and Diana dressed and shared a breakfast with Aurora. Diana sat beside Ororo, their fingers linked under the table as they exchanged knowing smiles. Aurora curiously asked questions about the Xavier Academy with increasing interest, seemingly becoming more and more open to the idea of enrolling at the university. Beyond the obvious benefits of being taught how to master her powers and learn more about mutantkind, though, Aurora was fascinated by Ororo as a person -- to Aurora, the mutant headmistress was confident, composed, elegant and stunningly beautiful... she hadn't felt so enamored by someone since she had started training with Diana. So, as she was sitting at a table with both women, Aurora felt quite honored, and quite smitten; still, her shyness kept her from speaking out of turn or expressing her admiration too directly, but it was clearly visible in her body language and tone.

"I'll admit... I do want to learn more about my powers. How to use them to help my people, both mutant and Amazon, and everyone else. But I've never left the island before..." Aurora said shyly. "It seems so... daunting."

Ororo reached out and rested her hand over Aurora's, a warm smile on her lips. "I understand your concerns, Aurora. But rest assured, the faculty and students at Xavier Academy will do whatever is needed to make your adjustment as comfortable as possible. If you'd like, I would love to take you under my personal wing while you attend."

Aurora's smile became noticeably brighter the moment Ororo placed her hand over hers. "I, uh... I'd really like that," she stammered, trying to contain the butterflies in her stomach -- it sounded like she'd be spending a lot of personal time with the Xavier Academy's headmistress, which made the prospect of enrolling nearly impossible to turn down.

Diana, too, placed her hand over Aurora's. "And I'm not too far away if you need another Amazon to talk to." Though Diana often visited her home in Themyscira, she lived in Boston, and spent much of her time with her lovers in New York; flying to Xavier's campus in Westchester was little more than an a simple detour for her.

"Are you sure? I wouldn't want to trouble you, Diana..." Aurora murmured timidly. "I'm sure you're busy as Wonder Woman..."

"It's no trouble at all, Aurora," Diana insisted. "Your well being is important to me, and like my other proteges, I have enjoyed being your mentor. It's a role I'd like to continue in some capacity. Besides... I have my own reasons to want to visit the Xavier Academy," she continued, giving Ororo a sly grin.

"I think I've made my decision," Aurora smiled. "I'd like to enroll at the Xavier Academy."

"Wonderful. You will not regret your decision, Aurora, " Ororo beamed, giving the young Amazon's hand a squeeze; Aurora felt her heart flutter again, returning Ororo's grin timidly.

"I think you've made an excellent choice, Aurora," Diana added approvingly; she, too, squeezed Aurora's hand lightly, and Aurora began to blush at the attention she was receiving from both strong, beautiful women. "You'll thrive at the school, I'm sure of it. And know that you will have both myself and headmistress Munroe -- now and in the future -- standing by if you ever need us."

"Thank you... both of you," Aurora murmured sincerely, smiling as she blushed. She and her mentors stood up, and Aurora embraced Ororo before doing the same with Diana; Aurora felt an electric spark shoot through her during both hugs, and left the room with a bounce in her step and a bright smile on her face.

Diana and Ororo watched Aurora depart, their hands once again linked. "As I said, Aurora is quite taken with you," Diana remarked, grinning as she turned to Ororo. "You must have noticed."

Ororo smiled coyly. "I certainly noticed... she's a very sweet young woman. Beautiful, too."

"She is. And she's very capable, too," Diana continued. "She's excelled in combat training and Amazon culture... Her timid demeanor belies her fierce nature in battle. She would make a fine member of the X-Men."

"Of that I've no doubt," Ororo agreed. "Your proteges always turn out to be fine women... and heroes."

"They certainly do. And Aurora will be no exception." Diana replied, leaning in to Ororo. "But now that our meeting with her is done, I'm eager to show you around Themyscira."

"And I'm eager to see it," Ororo replied. "Lead the way."
